Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Yeah, I know. I should have started looking for Bon Jovi Concert Tickets before the last minute. Don’t think that normally I wouldn’t, but with the custody battle over my kid and the repossession of my house and everything, things have been a little busy. Anyway, I’ve got dozens of connections in the city. I know roadies, managers and staff in every venue in this state, practically.

Ansel Adams Poster

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Ansel Adams was particularly fond of Yosemite, and did much of his life’s work in the area. Therefore, many Ansel Adams Posters are depictions of different scenic aspects of Yosemite. They are by far the best representations of the park I’ve ever seen, and yet even they don’t come close to showing the areas magnificence in its entirety.

Outdoor sports entertainment - where to find the equipment

With technology creating more and more gizmos for entertainment and information the habit of looking towards the nature has become a rarity these days. Not many people are opting to get out of their homes and search for entertainment in Mother Nature. Most people spend their Sundays ensconced in their living rooms in front of the television watching the latest movie flick or are engrossed in playing a video game.
Nature has a lot of entertainment to offer an individual. Entertainment that can actually help you in keeping you fit and healthy! Mountain biking, rock climbing, parasailing and camping are great methods of relaxation. The thrill that hitting the rocky terrains on a Mongoose can give is unparalleled by any other. The mild tension and exhilaration that rock climbing or parasailing can provide is something you can never experience in front of the television.

Movie Sites

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Yes, one of the wonders of computer technology is the ability to watch movies on our laptops or desktops; and one of the boons of internet technology enables us to find said films, film clips, trailers, and the like online at movie sites.  Further, for those of us art appreciators or educators who use movies in our distance learning classes, these movie sites offer fantastic databases, anthologies, or how-to series.

The Animation Factory is one of the movie sites offering free short films—mini-animations we can watch, download, and send to friends, as the creators at the AF suggest.

For more serious viewing, there are movie sites that seek to inform, with such video materials as those available at PBS—with The Online NewsHour Video database as well as a directory of hundreds of broadcast programs and specials at PBS.org.

New movie trailers are at movie sites including RealPlayer (the same place we go to get a movie viewer—if we are not using one on our hard drive); and show highlights clips are everywhere, at such sites as the Idol forum, for example……..More on this article

Science fiction - DVD’s

There is no other complete entertainment than watching a movie. The effect of the big large screen bringing the story to life and the surround sound accompanied by the darkness and the feeling of being alone in a crowd is the most mesmerizing effect that any entertainment even can have. Ensconced in the comfortable chair in a well-fixed chair with a tub of buttery or caramel popcorn and a large helping of a soda one can relieve himself of all the tension and worries that might have accumulated over the day.
These days however one does not need to stand in line for the movie tickets to experience such environment and relaxation. It can be accomplished in the comfort of your own house with big screen televisions and DVD’s with amazing picture and sound qualities. All you have to do is dim the lights and switch off your cell phone to avoid any external disturbance and relax on your large easy chair or bean bag.

New Video Releases
What kind of entertainment do you prefer? Are you the kind who prefer TV serials and like the anticipation of waiting for the next episode to find out what happens next or would you rather have all the lows and crescendos in a two hour flick and know the entire story?

If you are the kind of person who would prefer to avoid TV serials, then it is advisable to stay clear of them right from the very start. If you fall for the promotions and sneak previews that you are exposed to and catch the first episode, you are likely to be stuck to them like a moron till the end of the season at least. A break in watching them may make you see some sense and hopefully you may decide not to go back to them in the next season.

Throwing a Fantasy Football Draft Party

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

When a bunch of guys get together to talk football usually all you need to keep everyone happy is pizza and beer. But, since it actually involves work, a successful fantasy football draft party has a few more important parts.

Set up a large space with enough seating for everyone in your league. Comfortable seating like recliners or couches is a plus, but kitchen chairs will do in a pinch. If you’re planning to seat your members in a living room or den rather than at a table, provide clipboards to serve as writing surfaces. Be aware that some of your members may arrive with laptop computers so providing work surfaces like portable tables is a good idea. Of course you’ll also need adequate outlets nearby in case anyone needs to plug in.

Collect enough pencils for everyone in your league plus a few extras. Someone always shows up with nothing to write with. Small pads for taking notes can also be helpful. Print out enough draft sheets for each member, being sure to make a few extras.

The Great Bobby Jones

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

If one were to mention the greatest players in golf history, no list would be complete without mentioning Bobby Jones, arguably the greatest golfer to compete on a national and international level.

On record, Jones is still the only player ever to win golf’s elusive Grand Slam, which is winning all four major championships in the same year. Jones represented the United States in the Walker Cup five times and won nine of ten matches. He also won two other tournaments against professionals: the 1927 Southern Open and the 1930 Southeastern Open.

Like most other great players, Jones started out as a child prodigy who, at the tender age of six, won his first children’s tournament. At age 14, he reached the third round of the U.S. Amateur Championship. He burst unto the national stage in 1923 when he won his first U.S. Open. From 1923 to 1930, he won 13 major golf championships out of the 20 that he joined. He is second only to Jack Nicklaus (20 wins) on the list of most major championships won. Jones is also the first player ever to win The Double, which is both the US Open and the British Open in the same year (1926).

Art Software for the Art Fanatic

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

Do you enjoy art? Let me tell you, I have been around art since a very young age. My grandfather was always painting some amazing outdoor scene by a lake or on a mountain. His artwork is truly beautiful. He even got me to paint a picture of a Native American soldier one summer day. It turned out much better than I thought it would. Well, apparently this skill and passion runs in my family. By the time I was in high school, my father was excelling profoundly at pencil drawings. I mean phenomenal work.

The Addams Family

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

Charles Addams created a cartoon for the New Yorker, which ran in the 1930s and was very popular. He didn’t know that it would be adapted for a TV series, three movies and two animated series. His creation was The Addams Family, an eccentric bunch of macabre looking freaks. Despite their appearance, they were a generous, kind family and devoted to each other. They were blissfully unaware that their strange behavior caused terror and bewilderment amongst the neighbors. The ordinary world around them however, seemed bizarre to their freak sensibilities.

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

There has always been and will always be a fascination with celebrity homes. People want to know how the rich and famous live and daydream about it. I admit, I am a person who loves to look at photos of celebrity homes and large mansions in general. While not all of us can afford the celebrity homes, they have a tendency to be in the same vicinity of one another. Celebrities are often times neighbors with other celebrities. Cinematography-A Brief Historical Overview

Friday, October 27th, 2006

Cinematography is one of the man’s efforts to portray to others, through the use of techniques that combine motion pictures and text, the world and the messages it transfers as these are understood by the artist. With the term cinematography, one today describes the discipline of making lighting and camera choices when recording photographic images for cinema use. Based on two Greek words, cinematography etymologically means “writing in the movement” and was introduced as a new technique to record images of people and objects as they moved and project them on to a type of screen. Combined with sculpture, painting, dance, architecture, music, clothing and literature, cinematography is today considered to be the seventh art.

Do New Media Technologies Contribute to a More Democratic Polity

Friday, October 27th, 2006

Since the introduction of mass media, academic debates in the field of communications and among the everyday discussions of citizens around the world, tend to emphasize on the importance of news and entertainment media as mediums of political discourse, and especially on their role as dynamic forces to nations’ democratization. In United States particularly, scholars and observers place considerable responsibility upon the shoulders of new media for the current state of U.S. polity and culture.

When the term new media was first introduced, critics that studied it entered the sphere of hope, trying to evaluate whether the new technological forms could foster participation, increase the level of awareness regarding politics among citizens, and reestablish interaction. Internet chat rooms, talk shows, live TV shows, and all interactive multimedia networks of various forms, fueled and continue to feed this hope, which makes contemporary critics believe that the significance of politics could be understood by the vast majority, decreasing lack of interest. But have things changed due to the introduction and use of these new media forms? Do people feel more democratized and are they better involved in the political processes that govern their everyday lives?

Entertainment for Children in the 21st Century

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

No one is going to take you seriously, if you try to make the case that everything is the same as it was back in the 60s. The fact is that a lot of changes have taken place over the years. For example, there were no crack dealers that were pushing their dope outside of schools back in the 60s. There were also no unfortunate students afflicted with the AIDS virus back then. As I said, times are really very different now. You can see this clearly by looking at some of the current entertainment for children.
