Tv shows online

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Most people who have been using the Internet for a while have already heard of different file-sharing venues and peer-to-peer (P2P) downloading sites where you can get virtually any MP3 or audio file that you want. The fact that these music downloads are available is pretty common knowledge. What is perhaps less commonly known, however, is the fact that you can also find a significant number of TV shows online as well. Downloading television programs is basically the same as downloading other kinds of files. You first need to find a website that contains links to TV shows online, and then you have to make sure that you have some kind of file-sharing client that will allow you to access the files (often called “torrents” after the name of one of the most popular clients out there).

Music licensing

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Music licensing is very important for almost any musician. Its especially important for a serious musician, whether he play jazz, rock and roll, folk, or even classical or some other genre. It is crucial for a musician to keep his rights, and that means licensing and copyrighting his work properly. If you right a particularly successful song, some one else might want to license your music from you, and that means big bucks for you. I had a friend once, a classically trained violinist. Even though he rarely composed songs, one day he decided to enter a contest to compose a hit new piece of music for a commercial for a popular fast food chain which shall remain nameless.

Internet books

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

With sites like Project Gutenberg sprouting up more and more, internet books are emerging as interesting combinations of old and new technology. Somewhat ironically named after the inventor of the printing press, Project Gutenberg collects, scans, and publishes on the internet books which have become public domain, either because they were not written under a copyright or because their authors have been dead long enough for their rights to the material to expire. The books are then made available online for anyone to download and enjoy. Internet books (otherwise known as e-books) have been met with somewhat mixed reviews. Though e-book readers were said to be the end of brick and mortar libraries and bookstores, their sales never matched up to the predictions.

4 Color Printing

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

When using 4 color printing services, its not just the cost it takes that it is important, but the time it takes to get the job done. I had a 4 color printing job for a seminar the other week at a national conference of aeronautical engineers and designers, and was to give a presentation. Power point is a little stale, many people believe, and so I thought that I’d hand out everyone their own personal and personalized printouts of my stats with places where they can make their own notes as well as a form which they can use to send them back to me, and ask questions and give feedback. But, unfortunaltely, I was way behind schedule, and was only able to give the job to the printer palce four days before the scheduled event was to take place, so there was a rush on the order, and it was more expensive than a normal order.

The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes

Friday, March 30th, 2007

In 1885 he married Louisa (or Louise) Hawkins, known as “Touie”, who suffered from tuberculosis and eventually died in 1906.[2] He married Jean Leckie in 1907, whom he had first met and fallen in love with in 1897 but had maintained a platonic relationship with her out of loyalty to his first wife. Conan Doyle had five children, two with his first wife (Mary and Kingsley), and three with his second wife (Jean, Denis, and Adrian).

While Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had many other literary successes he will undoubtable remain best known for His Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes.

Cd player

Friday, March 30th, 2007

When CD players first became popular, I didn’t rush right out and buy one. I guess I was still listening to my tapes, and I didn’t want to make the investment to get everything in an entirely new format. That changed one day though, when I began to listen to a local band that I really liked, and their music was only available on CD. At that point, I decided it was time to go out and buy something that could play both a CD and an audiotape. Back then, the prices for CD players was still rather high.

The Tradegy And Comedy Of William Shakespeare

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

It is believed that Shakespeare produced most of his work between 1586 and 1612, although the exact dates and chronology of the plays attributed to him are under considerable debate, as is the authorship of the works attributed to him. He is counted among the very few playwrights who have excelled in both tragedy and comedy, and his plays combine popular appeal with complex characterisation, poetic grandeur and philosophical depth…..read more at The Tradegy And Comedy Of William Shakespeare

New video releases

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Some of us are such fanatics about new video releases that we practically stand in line at 5 a. m. , our fingers and noses pressed against the glass of the shop, praying like the Mervyn’s shopper for the place to “open, open, open…. ”Some of us, myself included are adamant about keeping up with the freshest of new video releases that we always make sure to have a copy of that new video releases guide they give away at the counter, so we can circle and highlight and X out the ones we must see, the ones we have already seen, and the ones we consider, unfortunately, as belonging in the must-miss category.

Amazing Designs

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

There are many examples of good design all around us and we take most of it for granted. I admire the design of buildings and products, past and modern. A poll was recently held in the UK for the public’s favorite amazing designs from the 20th century. There was a wide range of designs that got into the top twenty. There was the London Underground Map, the original cover design for Penguin Paperbacks, the Mini car and the Mini skirt! The album cover for the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band was also in.

An art lesson is a wonderful way to bring the family together and spend a few hours learning, creating and having fun. Paperback books

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

I am an avid reader. I enjoy a wide variety of topics. I read for personal development, career advancement and also pleasure. It seems that I always have a number of paperback books as well as professional journals, lying around the bed and on the coffee table. At one point I had joined a book club. It was fun getting novels as they first arrived on the market, but I found that I did not like reading the hardcover books. They are heavy to hold and take up a great deal of space to store. Also they are quite expensive compared to paperback books. My neighbor is also an avid reader. We like many of the same authors so we exchange paperback books quite often.

An article about Books for Dummies

All of us find ourselves deficient in our ability to understand certain selected subjects. Do you know how to do a tune-up on your car? Do you find algebra a foreign language? Can you fix a leaky faucet? Can you find your way around the internet? How about repairing furniture? Some of these simple and everyday problems with their associated expense can put a big dent in the budget.

Are you an art nut? You know, one of those people who would actually invest thousands or millions into a mere painting or sculpture? Okay, if you just busted out laughing when you read that, then you’re probably not an art addict. In fact, you could probably care less what some one-eared guy concocted hundreds of years ago. What kind of moron would cut off his ear anyway? I will let you in on a little secret. Many of the “artistically inclined” eccentric ones are not all there.

Big Savings Since I got TV on my PC

Monday, March 26th, 2007

To get TV on my PC, I did not need to purchase any new hardware or other equipment, because the TV channels are streamed right through your existing internet connection

It even works with a 56k connection, but broadband delivers superior reception and quality I just installed the program and in mere seconds was instantly watching International satellite channels on my PC!
You can also watch the Big Games LIVE without any additional fee or subscription.

Since I got TV on my PC I find it hard to believe the amount of money that I have saved compared to when I was paying the monthly fees for cable

The art institute

Monday, March 26th, 2007

It’s really too bad you can’t look into the future to see your mistakes before you make them. Although, to be fair, many of us wouldn’t change anything because even when things go wrong, you may end up on an even better path than where you started out to go. We only have one chance at this life we live, and there’s no possible way to go through life making the best decision at every turn. One of the best and worst things I ever did was go to the Art Institute for my education. I had decided to go to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Music and Video Business.

Book reports

Monday, March 26th, 2007

When I was in school, homework was my nemesis. I hated it with such a passion, especially because I thought it was keeping me from doing much more exciting things. Everything from math to phonics made me want to tear every homework paper to shreds and run outside to play. The worst had to be book reports, mainly because not only did they involve spending the time to read the books, but then you had to write a few hundred word book report on top of it. It was the worst of the worst, and often times this type of assignment was given over the summer during junior high and high school years, which made me hate them even more. Wasn’t that supposed to be our time off?

Art projects

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Art is an important means of expression. Some people say that this need is what separates us from the animals. Most people do art projects from elementary school, learning about shape, texture and color. Parents proudly put their efforts on the wall or go into school to see their achievements. These paintings etc. help to develop the imagination and build confidence. It’s a great way for kids to learn about the world around them.

Legal Music Downloads

Monday, March 26th, 2007

A crackdown on free music downloads a few years ago has lead to people now searching for legal music downloads. Legal music downloads came about because of several musicians pleading with the government that they owned their music, and it therefore should not be available for free downloading through shareware like Napster, which was the largest downloading site at the time. The government then decided that this would be illegal, and made it possible for companies to provide legal music downloads for a small fee, as long as it was not free or through shareware.
Sites began popping up online, with the most popular being iTunes with is associated with Apple and iPod.

Online movie rental

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

One of the problems with technology is that it often gives us more options than we need, more options than are even helpful or useful. When we first were able to watch movies at home, for example, there were only two choices: VHS and Beta. Beta soon went by the wayside, and so there was only one way to watch movies. This was a pretty good way for things to be set up. It meant that you could lend movies to friends, rent movies from the video store, or what have you. No matter what you did, they would always be in the same format. In the 21st century, however, things are much different.

Cheap books

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

In my opinion, there is nothing better than a good book. When I do get time to myself, which is rare, I eagerly grab a book and curl up on the couch. I just stocked up on some new books for the long winter months that are looming. Of course, with a hyper preschooler, I still might not get too much read during the winter months. I’m on a limited budget, so it makes it difficult to walk into a bookstore and purchase any book that I want. I have found ways to get my hands on cheap books, which is much easier on my finances and allows me to get more books at once.

Dvd video cameras

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

When I first got my mini DV video camera, it was extremely high tech. It was the best technology at the time, in fact. DVD video cameras were basically an extension of the old camcorder technology. Unlike camcorders, however, they could take truly high-resolution images. The DVD video camera resolution was unheard of at that time. Best of all, the DVD video camera was much smaller than the camcorder I used to use. If you have ever used one of those old VHS camcorders, you know what I’m talking about.

Used digital camera

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

Digital cameras have come a long way in the last few years. It used to be that to even get a decent picture, you had to get the newest digital camera available. Only the most high-tech digital cameras would work. Other ones would have such low resolution that if you blew up the picture, you would barely be able to see anything. Nowadays, however, even the used digital cameras are amazing. The resolution has gotten so good, in fact, that a high end used digital SLR camera is nearly as good as a new one. If you are willing to buy a used camera, you can actually have professional grade photographs for a fraction of the price. I have been using a used digital camera for a long time, so I know.

Meeting People Online

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

You must be careful when meeting people online. You have no way of knowing who you are really talking to so please think twice about meeting someone in person who you met online. Parents must educate their children about the dangers of meeting people online. Children and teens do not yet realize how dangerous the world can be and will not expect that the people they interact with online will be predatory. All parents must seriously consider whether or not to even allow their children access to computers or the internet. Ever since Dateline NBC has been airing shows about online predators, more and more people are opening their eyes to the sad truth: there are many adults out there who are looking for children for all the wrong reasons and your child may be their next target.

Books for kids

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

Children, with their natural curiosity, whimsy, and fanciful natures, crave entertainment that fosters their natural creative desires. While more and more kids in the United States are developing what is described as an “addiction” to television, books are falling by the wayside. Luckily, books for kids can treat and cure TV woes. With some of the classic authors like Dr. Seuss, to modern favorites like Thomas, the Little Engine that Could, kids can develop essential reading, spelling, and creative skills that will aid them in the future. As we all know, children’s books are recognizable by their colorful illustrations, and almost poetic words that seem to have a cadence that appeals to young minds.

This Lee Child audio book featuring the ex military cop, ultimate loner and very dangerous Jack Reacher starts off with a violent shoot out as Reacher rescues a young man from a kidnap attempt outside his college in a sleepy Massachusetts town. The rescue is successful and Reacher races away from danger and delivers the young man safely to his home on the coast of Maine. The last line of the first chapter pulls the rug out from under the reader and you can’t wait to turn the page.

Art Posters

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Fine art portraits are very popular, as in Jan Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, especially in vogue since the release of the film of the same name. Pre-Raphaelite paintings are also available as art posters, such as the Lady of Shallot by Waterhouse. For more modern tastes, there is Gustav Klimt and Roy Lichtenstein. Religious pictures form some of the most popular images. Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam and The Last Judgment are very powerful. Raphael is also for sale, with various depictions of the Madonna.  Admirers of Still Life can buy art posters in differing styles, from Paul Cézanne to Pablo Picasso.

Hdtv lcd tv

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

It was the day of the big game, and we were trying to decide who’s house to watch it at. Of course, Mark’s house has the advantage that it is central to everybody – 5 miles from me, 6 miles from Joe, 12 miles from Sam and Renee. But then again, Mark is a new father, and if we are there, we’ll always be being interrupted by the baby crying, every few minutes, or being shown photos, or changing diapers. We thought about having it at Sam and Renee’s house, but although they have a hdtv lcd tv, they are way on the outskirts – far from everyone except for Mark. And anyway, they are horrible house cleaners and a few of us are allergic to mold. Finally, we decided to have it at my house.

HDTV projection

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

My neice really lices our hdtv projection system, because it is just like being in a theatre. It has a little projector which mixes the color and shoots them out onto a wall. The other night, we had her and all of her little friends over for a night of Disney movies along with my son and his best friends rich and tom, who are twins. They’re really funny – they finish eachothers sentences and everything. Anyway, we turned on the hdtv projection television to an immediate chorus of “ooohhss” and “aaahhhss”. It was like actually being there, except that there wasn’t really any place as this was a cartoon. It’s hard to tell by looking at the image what the actual resolution is, but I’m sure it is quite good.

Acting Workshop

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Have you ever considered a career in Hollywood? This seems to be that field that everyone ponders at one time or another in their lives. I think it stems from watching films more than anything. I know oodles of people rant and rave about how great it would be to have millions of dollars and everybody worshiping the ground you walk on. However, I think when it comes down to it, it’s the escapism aspect that reigns supreme. Who wouldn’t want to play a super hero for a few months? Who wouldn’t want to delve into the life and character of a vicious villain? This would be an utter blast.

Fine art posters

I have to admit that I’m not very big on interior design or home decorating. I mean, I don’t have the most expensive furniture, my fabrics and colors aren’t coordinated, and I don’t make the best use of space. I think it’s safe to say you won’t be seeing any pictures of my place in a “Better Homes & Garden” photo shoot anytime soon! Nevertheless, I believe that I do one thing well: my walls. To me, there’s nothing more depressing than a home with bare walls, so I go out of my way to make sure that mine are covered with interesting things to look at. Some of my favorite wall hangings are the framed fine art posters that I’ve purchased over the years.

Chico California – City Of Roses, City Of Trees

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

Art is actively encouraged here and there are many galleries, wall murals and public space sculptures. There are theatres too and Shakespeare in the Park performances. The Senator Theatre is a 1,500 seat venue for music and it’s a very attractive building, originating from 1927 when it began as a vaudeville theatre. Chico California has several museums, including the Chico Museum, which has permanent and traveling exhibits about the local history of the county. There are displays of photographs and artifacts, including items from the Chinese Tao Temple, a result of the city’s large Chinese population at the beginning of the 20th century. Science too is represented here with the Chico Community Observatory, a planetarium that puts on shows with real time images from their telescopes.

Publish a book

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

There are a lot of people out there who have put in the enormous amounts of time and effort it takes to write a book, but who use their finished manuscripts as paperweights or doorstops since they haven’t the slightest idea how to publish a book. It’s not particularly difficult to learn how to publish a book, though finishing the actual process can be a bit of a trick. The most traditional and longest-standing method to publish a book is through the traditional publisher. These publishers, like Random House and Penguin, make money by buying manuscripts from publishers, then printing and selling books.

Authors books

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

There was a time when authors’ books were accepted as works of integrity, as works that were crafted painstakingly and cleverly and creatively by writers who were dedicated to writing as a calling. There was a time when authors’ books were not challenged for veracity—though they were challenged for other things, for contents, elements or style, by censors, kings, and the paranoid or jealous. But now, with the publishing industry as big as the automotive or mechanical industries, the act and process of writing a book open to everyone from entrepreneurs to illiterates, even the best books are subject to stringent scrutiny.

Movie downloading sites

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

We all love movies! There is pretty much no denying that! We rent them constantly and view them in our spare time. Well, what little time we have anyways. This makes film extra special, since we’re willing to devote that free time toward it. Oh, and then there is the theater. This one is always a hoot. Even though the movie theater RIPS us off completely, we still manage to make it there routinely. Sure, we gripe about the concessions and how it all used to be less expensive, but nothing changes. We still go. Heck, we must adore films like no other form of entertainment.

Purchase books online

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

If you are in a crunch for time when you have to buy a gift, you might want to purchase books online. Though you may not be able to get the book shipped to the recipient, you should get it really fast if you chose the right website. You can usually find a great deal on just about any book you can think of, and you will probably find books that you can’t find in bookstores if you know where to look. If you find your holiday shopping has stalled and you have run out of ideas for some people, have a look online to see what you can find. I love to purchase books online because I don’t have a lot of time to go to the bookstore. We share a family care at this point, and when I do have access to it, I have other things I have to do.
