Celebrated Musical Productions Around the World

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

Musical shows have been the main type of social entertainment in the worlds greatest cities for decades. Infact, some musical productions have been pleasing people for over twenty years and still popular. With the interest of this sort of public entertainment, we will mention the highest earning and longest running musical productions in the world.

The big musical production that has to be discussed is Phantom of the Opera, one of the most outstanding musical productions to ever be written. This breathtaking show is the longest running musical show in entertainment history and the most earning of all time. The theatre production was written for the theatre stage by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and describes the story of a scarred French man who falls in deep love with a chorus singer. The awesome songs of the musical are now so well known and the white face mask worn by the Phantom of the Opera is so unmistakable that it’s evident in tons of fancy dress parties around the world.

Next up is the terrific musical show known as Cats. Again another celebrated theatre show and one that ran about 20 years until its last curtain call in late 2000. The theatre show won both the Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony award for very best musical production and was shown in both London’s West End and world famous Broadway New York. The musical show was so successful that it was changed into 19 particular languages and actually shown around the globe. Cats the musical was a true phenomenon.

Now it’s time for the most famed play with a French show title of all time, Les Miserables or scripted into English as The Miserables. The musical production has been pleasing people in London’s showbiz West End for in excess of 15 years now and is the second longest running theatre production in London’s history. One of the most recognized songs from the musical show is I Dreamed a Dream, and it was also sung by television talent show runner up Susan Boyle. The theatre production Cats was up for twelve Tony awards and won eight of them, including very best musical production. Art Galleries and Where to Find Them!

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

Most people think of art galleries as stuffy places where people have fancy parties with champagne and interesting finger foods. They probably also think of high priced art that most of us mere mortals simply cannot afford to own, even if we had the desire to lavish our hard-earned cash on a piece of art anyway! There are plenty of places out there to buy things that are more affordable, and you can usually find something that you will love to hang in your home, and you won’t have to sell the family silver in order to get it.

Where to Find Local Art Galleries

There are two local art galleries in my local shopping mall. One is a bit more pricy than the other, but both are affordable. Though many don’t think of them in the traditional sense, there are art galleries where you can find great works of art by those who might be less known, but still have a lot of skill and can produce some wonderful pieces of art that would look good in any home or office. In fact, you may find something here that you would like better than anything else, and it won’t cost you a fortune.

Independent art galleries are primarily there to help artists display their paintings and are often full of works from unknown artists looking for that big break! Many of the paintings displayed sell for very low amounts of money, meaning that you can, occasionally, pick up a bargain, particularly if you follow the work of a specific artist and think that his or her work will gain in popularity over time.

You can find more information on art galleries and where to find them here!

Here Are The Best 2007 Movies

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

In my opinion, one of the best 2007 movies is Pixar’s enjoyable animated film called “Ratatouille”. This is a wonderful story of a rat living in Paris who with the help of a famous dead chef and his talent less son, lives his dream of becoming a master chef. I found “Ratatouille” to be funny, touching and simply an all around great movie. 2007 was a fantastic year for several other animated movies as well. “Persepolis” was a wonderful adaptation of a graphic novel about an Afghani girl growing up during the 1980s.

Here are a few of the best 2007 movies that were nominated for the Academy Award. An excellent movie that got everyone talking was the Coen brothers’ “No Country for Old Men”. Javier Bardem’s fantastic performance gave me shivers. One of my favorites out of the best movies of 2007 was “There Will be Blood”. I this film was an enormous step in the right direction for writer/director P.T. Anderson. “There Will be Blood” also gave talented actor Daniel Day-Lewis another well deserved Oscar for the category of Best Leading Performance by an Actor.
