Musical shows have been the main type of social entertainment in the worlds greatest cities for decades. Infact, some musical productions have been pleasing people for over twenty years and still popular. With the interest of this sort of public entertainment, we will mention the highest earning and longest running musical productions in the world.

The big musical production that has to be discussed is Phantom of the Opera, one of the most outstanding musical productions to ever be written. This breathtaking show is the longest running musical show in entertainment history and the most earning of all time. The theatre production was written for the theatre stage by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and describes the story of a scarred French man who falls in deep love with a chorus singer. The awesome songs of the musical are now so well known and the white face mask worn by the Phantom of the Opera is so unmistakable that it’s evident in tons of fancy dress parties around the world.

Next up is the terrific musical show known as Cats. Again another celebrated theatre show and one that ran about 20 years until its last curtain call in late 2000. The theatre show won both the Laurence Olivier Award and the Tony award for very best musical production and was shown in both London’s West End and world famous Broadway New York. The musical show was so successful that it was changed into 19 particular languages and actually shown around the globe. Cats the musical was a true phenomenon.

Now it’s time for the most famed play with a French show title of all time, Les Miserables or scripted into English as The Miserables. The musical production has been pleasing people in London’s showbiz West End for in excess of 15 years now and is the second longest running theatre production in London’s history. One of the most recognized songs from the musical show is I Dreamed a Dream, and it was also sung by television talent show runner up Susan Boyle. The theatre production Cats was up for twelve Tony awards and won eight of them, including very best musical production.
