This brilliant Martin Scorsese film follows the life of a young, poor, Irish- Italian who is growing up in New York city in the 1950′s. He wants the good life, so he works his way up the chain of organized crime in Brooklyn. He makes a great life with a beautiful bride Karen (Lorraine Bracco) and a lovely home, but then lands in jail, damaging the relationships that have come to mean so much to him. Goodfellas follows the wise guy, Henry Hill (Ray Liotta), an aspiring criminal who quickly rises up within the ranks of the mob until he testifies against his former mob partners and ends up in the FBI’s witness protection program. Joe Pesci, who plays the cold-blooded nutcase Tommy DeVito, gives one of his best performances as the trigger happy mob assassin. Also stars Robert De Niro, Paul Sorvino, Chuck Low, Frank DiLeo and Frank Sivero.
