Whether it’s a wedding ceremony and party, birthday bash, New Year or any big event that needs to be commemorated, you’d probably desire to have nothing less than the very best to amuse yourself and your guests. There are plenty of means for you to do to manage this, but nothing compares to a live band presentation in regards to fun.
Though, looking out for an excellent band and getting them to play in your special event is not as very easy as one believes. Listed here are the three items that have to be deemed just before sealing the offer, as they say.
Topic Concept Program
Even though a majority of live bands can play different types of tunes in particular classical, jazz, funk, rock and roll along with pop, having a music band which could perfectly go with the theme of your party will be a far better plan.
When your party is tropical Caribbean themed, then a steel pan band is a fantastic one to experience. If you are a child from the 80’s, and you choose that period to be the feature of your bash, then go for a group that pays tribute on the 80’s to get that ultimate memory lane trip.
Price Range
Be economical and recognize we do not have limitless money. Finding the most costly group there is in reality not necessary to be assured to getting the best performance. With all the competition in today’s market, a lot of live bands out there will provide excellent quality service at a very affordable rate. You just have to have perseverance and go searching. You can actually use the web and rake through sites that host several live bands which are listed in their particular style of music. There are also online websites that already list the cost range that will help you immediately pick your choice.
Performance
Be careful not to hire on the telephone or online at the time you have made your decision. Do not be reliant upon recommendations and review articles. As what they say, you will have to test out the merchandise firstly. Watch them perform live or you can look for footage or audio recordings of their live shows. You really should be certain the group you are getting is really as great as their standing. Don’t forget that your live band entertainment can either make any party a wonderful success or an unhappy failure. And so, guarantee the performance that they offer is going to be wonderful so you can get your money’s worth.
It is not in each affair that anyone will give consideration to employing a band. Therefore one must never waste the opportunity to grace an occasion with live music. Take some time in looking at shows. Work on a budget. Do not ever make rash actions. Find the group that can best meet your needs and work with you with regards to the finances and the repertoire.

Jams, in the context of band music, are generally thought of as improvisations of chord patterns and progressions, sessions of which by nature bring about long sets of music. Because of this very idea of “jamming,” jam bands make use of a standard predisposition to experiment with and combine numerous genres, from psychedelic rock to jazz fusion to folk music. Jam bands, to take the explanation furthermore, are bands inspired by The Grateful Dead together with their fan culture – a culture with an impressive sense of support, with fans following performers from gig to gig throughout the country. Jam bands radio simply is any specific radio station that plays predominantly if not solely jam-band music.
It all started up with The Grateful Dead, even though the band had a massive fan-base following during the 1980s, artists like Phish, the heir apparent to The Grateful Dead, as well as Blues Traveler, Spin Doctors and Edie Brickell & New Bohemians were starting to concerts and play jam-band-style music. During this period, a result of experimental and distinctive qualities of jam songs that vary every time they are performed, jam bands radio stations were non-existent. Fans had to do their own taped concert sessions so that they can replay an actual piece during a specified gig.
Repeatedly regarded as illegal bootlegs, these recordings had been easily shared and swapped by fans.
The ‘90s recognized more significant publicity for bands in particular The Black Crowes and Aquarium Rescue Unit, and Phish at that same moment was establishing a much larger fan base and showcasing modern creative concepts in their events. The passing away of Jerry Garcia in 1995 basically contributed to the surge of Phish’s popularity. The Internet, younger as it was then, paved the path for the creation of chat groups for these kinds of artists and their music, which possibly resulted to much awareness and hence more concert-goers for these bands and artists.
Despite the fact that Phish disbanded in 2004, many other bands and artists like String Cheese Incident, Widespread Panic and Disco Biscuits rose in the jam-band stage, performing in blossoming jam-band festivals. By this period, of course, downloading songs from the net was already a popular process. What were previously exclusive recorded sessions has been easily shared to everyone with a working computer along with an internet connection.
At present, anyone could immediately track down jam bands radio stations within the net, which efficiently skirts the issue of piracy and illegal sharing. Yet, this is still allowed, as it is element of jam-band tradition to let the audience to record events and shows. The truth is, a few will fight that groups that do not permit fans to capture shows are not really jam artists in the tradition set by The Grateful Dead.

Music is one of the things most enjoyable when made, appreciated and played together. Although it’s a great thing that you can listen to your favorite collection when driving your car as well as singing along with it, the reality is, music is better when enjoyed with friends.
Being a musician does not change this. Nobody becomes a superb musician by being inside a room the whole day practicing. One has to expose himself to other musicians and learn from them. This way, he will find out that true creativity is not done alone and that the four sides of your room is not a very good teacher.
Live jam sessions are the best ways to do this. It is when musicians meet up and just jam. It is when someone starts a lick, a groove or a melody and the other musicians join in and pick it up – letting the music take the lead in a free flowing musical direction.
If you are a musician, you need to have two things: head and soul. Majority of musicians has either too little of one and a lot of the other. A musician who has a lot of the ‘head’ is very technical; he knows when to play what mode, which is the best note for certain chord progression, what kind of groove is ideal for a particular time signature, etc. Musicians should know this stuff. However, these types of musicians sometimes lack substantial amount of creativity. They live in boxes, which contradict the idea that music is about breaking free from the box.
The other type – the one with lots of ‘soul’ – usually is the naturally talented one. He can easily pick up notes, play a groove well, and is very creative. However, most of the time, he has no idea arranging that creativity efficiently. Normally, he is the musicians who are ‘misunderstood’, struggling working with other musicians and becomes frustrated with them.
The reality is, if you cannot work with others as a musician, you are less of a musician, and you need to learn how.
To become an excellent musician, you have to be well-rounded. This is the reason why live jam sessions are so important. Jam sessions help musicians obtain skills that he lacks. A musician who has a lot of soul will learn how to construct his talent into a song, knowing when to play and when not to. On the other hand, the technical musician who has a lot of ‘head’ will learn a little to free himself from his box and will just let his artistry take over.
This is the essence of live jam sessions, and this is the reason why bands should jam a lot. They will learn each other’s (as well as their own) weaknesses and strengths. Furthermore, they will learn how to ‘play of’ and inspire one another.

On January 13th 2008 the Johnny Cash tribute band CashBack played inside Highpoint Prison in Suffolk, UK, to commemorate Johnny Cash’s legendary gig inside Folsom Prison exactly 4o years to the day earlier. This generated massive publicity for the band including TV and radio appearances as well as huge internet publicity. They have since gone on to become possibly the most “in demand” Johnny Cash tribute act in the world today and delight audiences around the world with their authentic Johnny Cash sound.
When required they can also provide their very own “June Carter” (Johnny Cash’s wife of course) which means they can then play some of the duets they made famous such as “Jackson” and “Darlin’ Companion”.
The band’s show generally consists of 2 parts: “The Johnny Cash Story”, telling the story of Johnny from a young boy up until his death in 2003, and “The Prison Songs” featuring songs from the albums that were recorded inside Folsom and San Quentin.
For more information see the band’s website at JohnnyCashBack.com

With rock and roll, the electric guitar rose rose in importance. Most Japanese guitar manufacturers were then imitating European guitar designs. In 1957, the Ibanez guitar name became the namesake for the company. The Ibanez guitars of this period were imitations of Hagstrom and EKO guitar designs (See Ibanez RG 270).
Meanwhile, in 1954, Harry Rosenbloom opened a music store called Medley Music in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. As the store grew Rosenbloom was having trouble getting product in the post-War music boom and decided to start his own guitar manufacturing business. He formed a new company called Elger Guitars, named for his children Ellen and Gerson.
In the mid-sixties, Rosenbloom decided to stop production of the hand-made instruments and begin importing them instead. With 90’s style outsourcing, Elger Guitars became the exclusive North American distributor for the Hoshino Gakki. Later, Hoshino bought Elger Guitars, regaining the North American distribution rights, and changed the name to “Ibanez USA”, given the fact that made-in-Japan had a negative connotation at the time.

Prince William and Kate Middleton will soon be wed. Here is a song for them.
The song is sung by Canadian artist Ann Vriend and produced by Andrew Smith at Roadmap Music in Kelowna BC. The smooth, jazz inflected song made its debut on YouTube mid January and is quickly racking up hits on the site. Roadmap is hoping that the song becomes a kind of soundtrack for the next few months as the world continues to read and hear about the upcoming wedding on just about every news channel, website and news radio program available. Roadmap has also partnered with NorthStar Music Publishing based in Cambridge, England to help promote the song in the UK and hopes the song will provide a welcome distraction there from things like austerity measures and credit crunches.

I had no idea how to promote a concert, and I needed to figure it out fast. You see, an acquaintance of mine — a big DJ from New York — was coming through the area. The town I was living in had a small electronic music scene. I knew that if someone knew how to promote a concert, they could get him to play somewhere, but no one was stepping up to the plate. The scene was so underground and the parents and authorities were so afraid of it that he could not get a show in a mainstream club. There would be no concert tickets sold online, and no concert set lists posted up on the Internet the next day. It was going to be strictly underground, and I wasn’t sure that I was in the scene enough to organize it. Nonetheless, I took my chances.
If you are trying to figure out concert promotion for yourself, let me give you a piece of advice: it is all about bluffing. No one knows how to promote a concert — there is no how. You just have to get everyone confident the concert will happen, that it will make money, and that it will be a great show.

Halloween is a month away from Christmas but it is an early celebration in itself. You also get to enjoy good food and music while hanging out with friends and family. You can dress up and go to costume parties and kids can go around trick-or-treating. There is a lot of merry-making during Halloween even if it’s a spooky time of year.
ABBA was a Swedish pop group which had chart-topping hits from 8 original albums. They sold millions of copies of their albums and they became an icon back in the 70s. Do you still remember Dancing Queen, Knowing Me Knowing You and a lot of other songs that were played on the disco halls back then? If you are a big fan of this group, I’m sure you are also pretty familiar with their fashion.
This Halloween, remind your friends and family of that group. Dress in ABBA fancy dress costumes to bring back the ABBA fever. Dance in step with your pals and in the tune of ABBA songs. Make sure you have bell-bottom pants and flared sleeves that are brightly colored to get into the style of the 70′s.
If you want to have matching outfits with your kids, you can dress them up in children’s 70s outfits. They may have not known any ABBA songs but don’t make them miss out on all the fun.

The world of music went electric a long time ago but there will always be a place for acoustic guitars, especially in the hands of accomplished guitarists. Most musical genres are represented by the instrument, which has a long tradition and is popular in many cultures.

My son played the violin for a couple of years, and then moved onto other, “cooler” types of strings. When the time came to shop for cheap electric guitars, he had been involved in music long enough to have an idea of what to look for in this instrument.

One could argue that over the past 100 years no guitar company has been copied more often then Gibson guitars. Of course they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Ever since Gibson began making guitars in the early 1900s (with their roots going back to the late 1800s), their styles have been copied many times over. So why is it that so many companies copy the look and feel of Gibson guitars?
Well the most obvious reason is that they make guitars that look very cool and play extremely well. Many different artists over the years have endorsed various types of Gibson models, including Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Angus Young, and Slash, among others. In addition, many of their designs have been fairly innovative. The Les Paul is arguably the most well known guitar in the world and its style has been copied many times over by many guitar companies, sometimes even resulting in lawsuits. The Explorer and Flying V models also come to mind as two of the more innovative guitar designs of the last century. buy a guitar online today!

A Doctor Who fan named Alex Day has invented a new genre of music… Timelord Rock, or “Trock” for short.
Alex tells the story of how he invented a new type of music just for fans of the TV show Doctor Who, as well as demos the first “Trock song”.
Oh, and apparently his band’s name is Chameleon Circuit, which is a great name (and Doctor Who reference).

If you want to learn to play music made by steel strings then the obvious choice is a steel-string guitar. Yes, your fingers are going to hurt for some time, but you’ll develop calluses after a couple of months of regular practice. The same is true if you wish to play classical guitar music. Don’t be persuaded to get a steel-string is all you want to play is classical music. A classic guitar is considered classic because the dimensions are similar.Learn to play the acoustic guitar

There is billions more to British music festivals this summer that Liverpool Sound City. From rock by the seaside at Birmingham to folk and acoustic sounds at Cambridge, GB’s festivals market place is in brilliant health. Tickets for old favourites like Leeds and The Great Escape still seem to disappear like hot cakes, & with Estelle on Maps Festival Justin Timberlake at Reading and Jay-Z at Glastonbury the the UK’s festivals are appealing to a greater demographic range than ever before.
What do festival goers wish from a music festival? Is it marvellous dance music so one can dance all night, ear banging metal for serious moshing or some fine soft folk music while festival goers sunbathe in the sun? What’s farther essential really is the kind of ambiance that festival goers are looking for, the line ups and the facilities, all of which at different festivals vary a lot. The crucial music festivals goes into swing usually at the end of March beginning of June the festival go on up and down the Great Britain country side so there are always going to be a fine festival that is close to people. There are not really ever any disappointments as you yourself of course are going to choose an incredible festival that suites people and what festival hunters are looking for.
The 1st time festival lovers attend an awesome festival from the second festival lovers walk in the grounds to erect your tent accommodation one will feel this huge buzz. Festivals naturally seem to get better year after year. The only disadvantage that appears to get mentioned year after year are the cost of chips and booze nonetheless this cannot be helped. You yourself are no allowed to take any of your own crisps or beer onto the festival grounds but you are allowed to bring it into your camping ground so it makes sense to eat and drink all one can before stepping into the ground this way festival lovers should be able to stop from spending a ton of money What makes a wonderful festival great is for obvious reasons the weather, the marvellous atmosphere the bands and the massive memories that one are obviously going to make along the way. Log on and get your hands on Summer Festivals and Music Festival tickets around the UK.

Are you racking your brains trying to figure out just how to promote a concert?
It’s not that difficult once you apply yourself to the task and really, everything is just common sense.
Firstly, time and timing is very important.
Treble check the date of the concert so that there’s no confusion there. (Sounds stupid, I know, but it has happened) Then make sure that any publicity is printed and ready to be displayed in plenty of time. This allows for hold-ups at printers, weekends, bank holidays etc.
You want a good return on ticket sales so don’t leave publicising the event till the last minute. Things like” book now to avoid disappointment” and “when they’re gone they’re gone” are good stock phrases to use.
The design of any posters, flyers or leaflets that you create is vitally important. They have to meet the A.I.D.A criteria. Not sure what that is?
A=attention
I=interest
D=desire
A=action
Basically, the design needs to be good enough/bright enough/unusual enough to attract everyone’s attention. But especially the attention of your target audience whoever they may be.

My son had never paid too much attention to our music selection. I think he assumed that his parents would not have anything that he would want to listen to. He was very surprised at the number of albums that we still have and that we still have a turntable to play them on. We pulled out a number of Beatles songs that dated back to the early 60’s all the way to the Anthology album. I explained that I had purchased the Anthology Album at the Mall of America when it was first released. They still have a number of new releases on vinyl for the British that come to shop there.

South Dakota has a yearly Harley Davidson motorcycle event and it adds greatly to central South Dakota tourism. This is like an opera to the blue collar folks that show up. There are all sorts of concerts and entertainment. Of course a lot of revolves around the cycles, but not all. There are massive amounts of beer consumed along with other not so legal substances. The event has become tamer over the years as the participants have aged but most really have a good time. I have some photographs of one year at the event, the theme that year seemed to be ladies flashing everyone with a camera. It was funny seeing a sixty five year old lady that weighed two hundred pounds lift her blouse and expose her chest. I can imagine her doing that when she was in her thirties but it would seem to me that it would loose it’s appeal thirty years later. I guess they were just reliving memories of their youth. The cycle drag races aren’t as big as they used to be either. I would imagine the fully decked out gold wing lookalikes just don’t have the raw speed and power that the old duck tails had.

I was looking for some entertainment around the state so I was browsing the Minnesota vacation rentals and then cross-referencing their locations to the local shows. There are quite a few places with local bands and some of the locals are really quite good. I can order an adult beverage and sit and listen to them for hours. It’s a great way to wile away an evening. The other thing I was looking for was movies. I am a movie junkie at heart. Most of the movies I actually watch on DVD at home, but when you are looking for a night out that trip to an actual theater is a whole different experience. Even though I have a surround sound system, the quality of the sound along with the big screen experience can not be beat. I have a small camcorder that I carry with me. It’s great for videoing the bands. Most of them don’t allow that so you have to be a little sneaky in the way you get it into the venue. You also have to be careful as to the way you film. Getting caught can be cause for your removal. Sometimes even your permanent banishment from the establishment.

Learning to play the blues on the guitar can be a very frustrating undertaking. Although it appears that it should be an easy transition, there are only a small number of people who seem to know the secret to really making it sound fantastic. Griff Hamlin and his team of top notch guitar instructors have put together a really complete blues guitar course, with a step-by-step method that has actually been proven and tested on Hamlin’s own guitar students over the past several years. The main blues guitar instruction book provides all of the theory, scales, tricks and techniques that you will need. It follows an easy to understand and logical progression.

Social Distortion (sometimes referred to simply as Social D) is a seminal punk rock band formed in 1978 in Orange County, California. The band currently consists of Mike Ness (vocals, guitars), Jonny “2 Bags” Wickersham (guitars), Brent Harding (bass) and Charlie Quintana (drums). They, along with Minor Threat, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains and many others, are often credited as one of the leading bands of the 1980s punk revival.
The group briefly disbanded in 1985, due to frontman Ness’ drug addiction, but reformed around 1986 and have continued being active today, even after the death of longtime guitarist Dennis Danell, who succumbed to heart failure in 2000. Since their inception the band lineup has been a virtual revolving-door of talent, with many members coming and going – Ness has been the only constant member.

The classical guitar or Spanish guitar is the most popular of the three kinds of guitar. The classical guitar has a hollow body with a hole that acts as a resonator of the sound produced by plucking and strumming the strings. It normally has six strings made of nylon. When compared to steel strings, nylon strings have less tension thus making the classical guitar easy to strum or pluck. Using only a person’s fingers is the proper way that it is to be played, not with a pick. The
classical guitar is normally used without amplifiers but classical guitar owners can equip one if desired or just play the classical guitar in front of a microphone. The classical guitar is used mainly for playing classical, Flamenco and Latin music.

The Dead Kennedys (often known by their initials DK, as in “decay”) are a Hardcore Punk band from San Francisco, California. During the 1980s, the band gained a large underground following in the international punk and hardcore music scenes. Their music mixed the more experimental elements of English 1970s punk with the raw energy of the 1980s American hardcore punk scene. The Kennedys’ songs mix the deliberately shocking lyrics of punk with a humorous, acerbic, satirical, and sarcastic left-wing commentary on current social and political issues. At the same time, some of their songs also mocked the hypocritical stances of some liberal elites. Many of the band’s songs criticize the right-wing ideologies of the religious right and the Ronald Reagan administration.
