Bled – The News

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

The Bled is a post-hardcore band from Tucson, Arizona. The band members united over their love of music and their desire to get out of Tucson. They formed in 2001 and soon established a name for themselves in their home town, playing many shows and often to sold out audiences. Eventually they signed to Fiddler Records and released one album through them – Pass The Flask. The band toured extensively in support of this album. However, before recording started for their second album, original bass player, Mike Celi, left the band. He was replaced by Darren Simoes. The band is currently signed to Vagrant Records and through them, released their second album, Found In The Flood in 2005. They have toured alongside such bands as Slipknot, Alexisonfire, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Thrice, Midtown, The Used, My Chemical Romance, Underoath, Senses Fail, and AFI. The Bled’s very first headlining tour was shared with Protest the Hero of Canada. They will soon embark on the Projekt Revolution tour, along with My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, HIM, and others.

Which Is The Best Guitar To Learn On?

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007
In all probability, if you have asked someone if you could use their guitar for a while, it would be a steel string acoustic or an old classical acoustic guitar.
Acoustic guitars only require a pick while electric guitars require things like leads, amps, speakers and power. Acoustic guitars are very easy to learn on.
Another great thing about acoustic guitars is that you don’t have a volume control. In the beginning stages of learning to play, it is probably better to play on a guitar that isn’t going bother your neighbors, you only want it loud enough so your ears alone can hear both your good performances and of course, your errors.
There are many different reasons why people play guitar. What it is that you want to get out of the guitar? Listen to different styles and genres of music to discover what your tastes in guitar and music are. Ask musicians at music shops about what kind of guitars different bands use, or ask them what kind of amps/effects those artists use to get that sound.

Tribute Bands

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

All over the world there are hundreds of tribute bands paying homage to some of the greatest musicians of all time. While these bands are not the original, they do a great job of portraying the music, lifestyle, and culture of the original artist. If you have never heard a tribute band play before you should look into doing so right away. Of course, not every band has a tribute band that pays homage to them. You will have to simply find one that suits the type of music that you are most interested in.

So you want to see a tribute band perform? If so, there are many places that you can search for these bands. The fact of the matter is that they play in large and small venues across the world. In most cases you will probably find tribute bands and artists in smaller venues, but in some cases they draw very big crowds on certain occasions. Simply put, if you keep your eyes open you will be able to get a good idea as to when these bands and artists will be in your area. It is usually advertised in the local paper, and of course you can find show information online as well.

When it comes to tribute bands there are some people who are all for them, as well as some who are completely on the other side of the fence. Generally speaking, this is a decision that you will have to make on your own. The people who love tribute artistes and bands feel this way because they want to keep the music live. And when it comes down to it there is nothing better than seeing a live performance. But on the other side of things there are quite a few people that want nothing to do with these types of artists. They feel that tribute bands do nothing more than take away from the original. While this is a valid argument, most bands are not trying to intentionally do this. In fact, their intentions are to pay respect to the original band, and allow the newer generations to get a good feel as to what they were all about.

If you are a musician starting a tribute band is something that you may want to consider. The best way to do this is by finding a favorite band or artist from the past, and then researching them a bit more closely. Find out what their music stood for, and if you think that you can duplicate their performances. If this interests you, you may also want to speak with other tribute bands and artists. This way you can get a good idea as to what you should expect, and how to get started, book shows, etc.

For the most part tribute bands can never duplicate the on stage performance of the original. But these bands and artists should be greatly respected for all of the time that they put into being the best they can. Not only do tribute bands have to learn all of the songs, but they also have to research how the original group acted on stage. This way they can give the audience the complete experience that they are looking for.

As you can see, tribute bands have become quite popular over the past few years. Even if you do not think that you would like to see one of these bands perform, you should at least give it a try one time. You may be surprised to find out that they put on a pretty good show.
