Glamour, Glitz & Gold — Planning Your Trip to Monaco

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Whether driving or flying, getting to Monaco is easy. From the International Airport in Nice, you can even take a 7-½ minute helicopter ride to Monaco via Heli Air Monaco or Monicair. About the size of Central Park in New York City, Monaco is three miles long and one-half mile wide. Although it’s the second smallest country in the world (Vatican City is the smallest), Monaco nonetheless offers something for everyone.

Monaco is divided into five districts. The Condamine, which is the second oldest area in Monaco. Monte Carlo is famous for its casino, luxury hotels and unique boutiques. It features the Révoires and the Exotic Gardens. Hotels and accommodations in Monaco range from the very inexpensive to the luxurious. Monaco’s flagship hotel is still the “Hotel de Paris” with its almost unbelievable luxury and unparalleled attention to your every wish.

A wonderful family hotel that even offers onsite babysitting is the Tulip Inn Monaco Terminus. The Monte Carlo Grand Hotel is an imposing building, with seven polygonal terraces that overlook the Med or the Grand Prix race course. Arguably the finest restaurant in Monaco is the Louis XV. Mariah Carey Bio

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

Noted for her distinctive singing style, Carey possesses a five-octave vocal range, and her vocals make frequent use of melismas and other ornamentation. During the 1990s, she released fifteen U.S. number-one hits on Columbia Records, run by then-husband Tommy Mottola, several of which broke chart records. By the turn of the millennium, Carey’s popularity with critics and the public had entered decline, and she was dropped from her new record label following a highly-publicised physical breakdown and an unsuccessful foray into film. In 2005, Carey returned to the forefront of R&B music with her multi-platinum album The Emancipation of Mimi, which spawned her sixteenth number-one single, “We Belong Together”.

Sharon Stone Bio

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

She was said to be a smart and ambitious child. She has described herself as “a nerdy, ugly duckling who sat in the back of the closet with a flashlight and read. I was never a kid. I walked and talked at 10 months. I started school in the second grade when I was five, a real weird, academically driven kid, not at all interested in being social. Recess was a drag until I realized I didn’t have to play, that I could lean up against a wall and read.” Most of the kids disliked her because she was standoffish and didn’t play children’s games. One day on the playground she announced, “I am the new Marilyn Monroe.” Her mother said “Sharon has been posing from the day she arrived. She came out posing.”

Celebrity Homes

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Most of us are obsessed with celebrities these days. We want to know what they wear, where they go, whom they are with and where they live. Celebrity homes are a good insight into the lavish lifestyle that celebrities live. If there is some controversy attached to the star, then we are even more fascinated.
There are a lot of companies that run bus tours around Hollywood and districts of Los Angeles such as Beverley Hills, Bel-Air and the Sunset Strip. It’s a chance to see some of the jaw-dropping mansions of the rich and famous. Sometimes, the passengers only get to see a gated entrance, a high wall and security cameras but it’s still a thrill. Some of the celebrity homes go back to the golden age of Hollywood in the 1930s and 1940s. Movie stars back then were American royalty and they held court in their palaces. We are a bit more irreverent now in our fan worship.

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

As a culture, we are so bored by advertisements that it is difficult to see any beauty in them. In reality, a great deal of work goes into them. They are made to be beautiful. They are made to catch the eye. We miss all of it because we get sick of people always trying to sell us things. I think this is why so many people are fascinated by vintage posters. Through antique posters, we are able to see the beauty in contemporary American commercial life.

A Good Old Fashioned Romantic

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

Fans don’t seem to mind that they can guess what’s coming. They find it comforting in an unsettled world. The setting and time period probably don’t matter very much. It’s the relationship between the man and woman (it’s always a man and woman) that counts. Modern standards of behavior have changed significantly but there is still a demand for old-fashioned romance novels with clearly defined plots…..read more at A Good Old Fashioned Romantic

Jean Francis Detaille: Greatest Performance Artist Ever?

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

For many years now, we have had the delightful (or disturbing) performance art, whereby, for example, an artist lies on a gallery floor tied at four corners, a bucket of water rests near his head, a live wire rests menacingly nearby, and the title of the performance piece is “Kick the Bucket”—the artist “inviting” someone to do so…to kick over the bucket of water near his head and near the live electrical wire.

In this early part of the 21st century, we have a new addition to accelerated approaches: we have a combination performance art/extreme sports phenomenon called, interestingly enough, extreme art–and the extreme artist, Jean Francois Detaille.

Dr Dr Quinn Medicine Woman the TV drama that will live in the hearts of people

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

Westerns used to be staple fare on TV in past decades, before they fell out of favor but a western series with a difference revived the genre when Dr Quinn Medicine Woman ran from 1993-1998. The show was immensely popular around the world, winning numerous Emmy Awards. It is a family show with a mixture of drama, comic moments and good characters. Although seen as family entertainment, the series was not afraid to tackle social issues in its stories. These were often on the theme of race relations and feminism. Celebrity Plastic Surgery

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

Check out what has become of some celebrities. Can you even recognize Joan Rivers? Talk about celebrity plastic surgery gone wrong. She hardly looks human anymore. The woman could star in an episode of the X-Files if it were on. Then there is Michael Jackson. I don’t even know what this guy did to himself anymore. The point is he looks an utter mess. I think he’s already had like 4 or 5 nose jobs. I believe it’s clear that we cannot base our ways of life on those chosen by Hollywood celebrities. Between the celebrity plastic surgery, the drugs, and the lavish lifestyles, these folks are not a paradigm by any means.

Fake Fur Coats

Sunday, February 4th, 2007

Many people are ethically opposed to wearing animal fur but still want to enjoy the look and feel of fur. The next best thing to real fur is the faux fur coat, faux meaning fake in the French language. Some customers want the clothes to look as real as possible whilst others actually want it to look like imitation fur. They don’t want to be accused of wearing real animal fur when they are not. It has been known for anti-fur protesters to throw paint over fur clothes. This type of faux item is possibly the only one where looking fake is encouraged.

Airbrush Tanning Methods

Sunday, February 4th, 2007

With all the hard work put into exercise, why not show off that great body? Lean and toned muscles are accentuated and complimented by a rich tan. Darker, glowing skin also sends out a message of health and exotic beauty. Each year, millions of women try desperately to attain and keep a good tan by laying in the sun for hours upon hours. This practice takes time to complete, but more importantly, is damaging to the skin. Prolonged sun exposure can cause cancer, and make the skin age much faster than usual.

My Favorite Australian Artists - Have You Heard of Them

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

I used to be a big fan of the 80’s hair bands when I was a teenager. I have no interest in them any longer so I can comfortably admit that fact. That scene was played out a long time ago as far as I am concerned. I am now happy that I am no longer one the many people that still listen to these bands.

The Scoop on Celebrity Homes

Sunday, January 28th, 2007

I never really thought about celebrity homes until I saw a show on MTV about them. I believe it’s called MTV Cribs, but I’m not really sure. I only saw it a few times. When it comes down to it, I doubt I would want to buy any of the celebrity homes I saw on TV…even if I had the money to do so.I’ll admit, some of the homes were pretty cool, but I thought they were also a little over the top, even for celebrities. The decor in some of them was outright garish. I can only hope that many of the ones not shown on this show are done a little more tastefully. There were some great ideas but there were also some that were taken so far to the extreme that the home didn’t even look like a home any longer.

Tribute Bands

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

All over the world there are hundreds of tribute bands paying homage to some of the greatest musicians of all time. While these bands are not the original, they do a great job of portraying the music, lifestyle, and culture of the original artist. If you have never heard a tribute band play before you should look into doing so right away. Of course, not every band has a tribute band that pays homage to them. You will have to simply find one that suits the type of music that you are most interested in.

So you want to see a tribute band perform? If so, there are many places that you can search for these bands. The fact of the matter is that they play in large and small venues across the world. In most cases you will probably find tribute bands and artists in smaller venues, but in some cases they draw very big crowds on certain occasions. Simply put, if you keep your eyes open you will be able to get a good idea as to when these bands and artists will be in your area. It is usually advertised in the local paper, and of course you can find show information online as well.

When it comes to tribute bands there are some people who are all for them, as well as some who are completely on the other side of the fence. Generally speaking, this is a decision that you will have to make on your own. The people who love tribute artistes and bands feel this way because they want to keep the music live. And when it comes down to it there is nothing better than seeing a live performance. But on the other side of things there are quite a few people that want nothing to do with these types of artists. They feel that tribute bands do nothing more than take away from the original. While this is a valid argument, most bands are not trying to intentionally do this. In fact, their intentions are to pay respect to the original band, and allow the newer generations to get a good feel as to what they were all about.

If you are a musician starting a tribute band is something that you may want to consider. The best way to do this is by finding a favorite band or artist from the past, and then researching them a bit more closely. Find out what their music stood for, and if you think that you can duplicate their performances. If this interests you, you may also want to speak with other tribute bands and artists. This way you can get a good idea as to what you should expect, and how to get started, book shows, etc.

For the most part tribute bands can never duplicate the on stage performance of the original. But these bands and artists should be greatly respected for all of the time that they put into being the best they can. Not only do tribute bands have to learn all of the songs, but they also have to research how the original group acted on stage. This way they can give the audience the complete experience that they are looking for.

As you can see, tribute bands have become quite popular over the past few years. Even if you do not think that you would like to see one of these bands perform, you should at least give it a try one time. You may be surprised to find out that they put on a pretty good show.

If you want to find out more about tribute bands why not try visiting http://www.tribute-entertainment.co.uk a site that specializes in providing information and resources about tribute acts and artistes

Lookalikes

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

In today’s day and age there are tons of people who want to look like celebrities. Not only do these people decide to dress and act like their favorite celebrity, but of course they want to look the same way as well. These lookalikes are not uncommon, and you have probably seen them on television at least once or twice. In fact, there have been several television programs dedicated to celebrity lookalikes.  It is quite interesting to see how so many people can make themselves look like another person.

If you want to be a celebrity lookalike you are going to have to put in a lot of work and in many cases a lot of money as well. The first step that you will have to take is learning everything about the celebrity who you are interested in. Take notes on how they dress, how they act, and of course what they look like. When considering physical features you should look at every last detail from facial features down to the feet. After all, the more detail that you can copy the more you will look like your favorite celebrity.

There are two types of lookalikes in the world today. There are the people who naturally look like celebrities and only do a bit of work to cap things off, and then there are those people who work on their body in order to achieve the results they are after. This means that they will eat less if they have to, and even get plastic surgery if it is a must. While there is nothing wrong with this, make sure that you know what you are doing before you get in too deep. In other words, do you want to be a celebrity lookalike for the rest of your life?

Believe it or not there are lookalikes agencies that are becoming quite popular.  These agencies specialize in finding celebrity lookalikes, and then booking them on jobs that suits their needs. This may not seem like a very big industry, but it is actually picking up a lot of steam. This all goes back to the sheer volume of people who are obsessed with celebrities and what they are doing on a daily basis.

If you think that you look like a certain celebrity it may be in your best interest to get in touch with a lookalike agency. They will be able to give you an honest assessment, and if good enough you may be able to begin booking jobs.  Many people work very hard to tweak their look so that they can become one of the featured lookalikes at an agency.

With so many people interested in the way that celebrities look, it is easy to see why so many lookalikes are popping up all over the world.  As more and more lookalike agencies are established, this industry is only going to get stronger. In turn this will lead to a lot of newcomers trying their hand as a celebrity lookalike.

If you’d like to find out more about lookalikes, why not visit http://www.tribute-entertainment.co.uk a site that specializes in celebrity lookalikes and impersonators

MTV Music Videos - Then And Now

Monday, January 8th, 2007

Over twenty years ago, a revolution in music programming formats hit the TV screen. This was the MTV music videos channel. Prior to the advent of MTV, music videos were played between certain shows or during television specials, as shorts or fillers. The MTV programming format was an entirely different concept, with the MTV music channel providing continuous, 24/7 music videos. Every day and at any time of day or night, people could tune in and see as well as listen to, a variety of bands and performers at their visually artistic best. The MTV music videos channel offered the otherwise unknown bands a chance at fame, while giving viewers new sounds and special-effects enhanced performances. The MTV channel was an instant hit in the music industry and with the public.
