Over twenty years ago, a revolution in music programming formats hit the TV screen. This was the MTV music videos channel. Prior to the advent of MTV, music videos were played between certain shows or during television specials, as shorts or fillers. The MTV programming format was an entirely different concept, with the MTV music channel providing continuous, 24/7 music videos. Every day and at any time of day or night, people could tune in and see as well as listen to, a variety of bands and performers at their visually artistic best. The MTV music videos channel offered the otherwise unknown bands a chance at fame, while giving viewers new sounds and special-effects enhanced performances. The MTV channel was an instant hit in the music industry and with the public.

My younger brother told me that he only wants one thing for Christmas. Well, one person to be exact. You see, he wants Kelly Clarkson, the first-year winner of the screamingly popular American Idol. My brother often tells me about the virtues of Kelly Clarkson and asked me to figure out a way to satisfy his one wish.

After twenty glorious years, Roger Waters and Pink Floyd went their separate ways. Roger forged a solo career, but never seemed as potent as when he’d been with the band. He still wrote some great songs, and probably always will do. Like Ray Davies and Paul Weller, Roger’s songs are quintessentially English.

I have seen over the years some gorgeous, stunning, and rare Marilyn Monroe pictures that seem more representative of the Marilyn Monroe who was a person, too. One of my favorites is the shot of her working out. She is laying with her back to the bench press, holding small dumbbells up in front of her. She is dressed in jeans and a bathing suit top. The photo is black and white, shot by Phillipe Halsman in Hollywood in 1952. Simple, real.

But if you want to do something a little different, there are options. You can go the video route, which asks people to essentially make a toast on camera and then the video is given to the bride and groom later. This isn’t a particularly unique idea, but it does solve the issue of not wanting to put people on the spot and still gives everyone a chance to say something special to the bride and groom even before the wedding bridal games.

Cash, known as The Man In Black, was the sort of guy that people felt they could chew the breeze with. He wasn’t a rhinestones and Stetson type, he came across like an ordinary Joe. Two of his most successful albums were the live performances from Folsom Prison and San Quentin Prison. The inmates took Johnny Cash music to their hearts.
Other artists greatly respected Cash and he had a successful collaboration with Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson.

Until the 1950’s, Hollywood was controlled by seven major motion picture studios. More importantly it was controlled by moguls, all of whom were men they of eastern European descent, who ruled the studio in the same way that the kings of their previous countries ruled the peasants. Creative control belonged to the mogul, while the money was always controlled by the New York bankers, the so-called “Suits”.
