David Suchet as Hercule Poirot in The Dream
David Suchet as Hercule Poirot

I have a great and quite long article all about Hercule Poirot, who  is a fictional Belgian detective who featured in the novels of Agatha Christie. Go to my Hercule Poirot site here.

He has been portrayed on screen by various actors including Albert Finney, Peter Ustinov and most recently, David Suchet.

Poirot has appeared in many novels and short stories. Along with Miss Marple, Poirot is one of Agatha Christie’s most famous characters.

Poirot is still in copyright with Christie’s grandson, Matthew Prichard, who now owns the royalties to his grandmother’s works.

Here’s something new: “Downloadable, Audio Books!”

Monsieur, you could you use some extra francs, per’aps? Read on, mon ami.

Would you enjoy LISTENING to  downloadable books? First, you may listen to a free sample.

Great idea. Put them on blank CDs, or your MP3s and listen and learn, during your dreary drive into work. Wonderful quality and so very inspiring.

Even learn a foreign language whilst you drive, bus, or go by train, or fly to work, instead of wasting your life, swearing at all the bad drivers. Think of your car, bus, train, or aircraft, as your own, personal, ‘University on Wheels’

We have a 5,000 audio book library, on just about every subject and this number is added to almost daily.

Simply click on the search box, at my main audio book site: http://www.booksthatalk.com/

By the way. I’m looking for a small number of affiliates, to place snippets of code on their websites, which may be either banner or text links, but on of any subject. The commission rate I pay you is very good, indeed!

Rare Marilyn Monroe Pictures Show The Person, Not Just the Star

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

I have seen over the years some gorgeous, stunning, and rare Marilyn Monroe pictures that seem more representative of the Marilyn Monroe who was a person, too.  One of my favorites is the shot of her working out.  She is laying with her back to the bench press, holding small dumbbells up in front of her.  She is dressed in jeans and a bathing suit top.  The photo is black and white, shot by Phillipe Halsman in Hollywood in 1952.  Simple, real.

Tom Cruise, Paramount And Hollywood Power’s Shift, And Now Hedge Funds

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

Until the 1950’s, Hollywood was controlled by seven major motion picture studios. More importantly it was controlled by moguls, all of whom were men they of eastern European descent, who ruled the studio in the same way that the kings of their previous countries ruled the peasants. Creative control belonged to the mogul, while the money was always controlled by the New York bankers, the so-called “Suits”.

Fan of Napoleon? Dynamite Merchandise Available Online

Monday, November 20th, 2006

These days it’s not an unusual sight to see movie-related products on store shelves. I expect that kind of thing from Disney or Pixar movies for sure, but didn’t realize that this type of marketing extended to so many other films as well. For example, I’ve seen so much Napoleon Dynamite merchandise over the last couple years that I finally gave in and watched the movie. I had heard of it of course, but had managed to avoid it because it just didn’t seem like my kind of film. But its popularity definitely had me intrigued, and since there was such great demand for t-shirts and other stuff, I had to see what all the fuss was about.

Broadway Show In New York City

Sunday, November 19th, 2006

Reputations have been made in the theatres for composers such as Leonard Bernstein and George Gershwin, who went on to represent everything that is good about American music. Playwrights like Eugene O’Neill and Neil Simon have fond memories of their Broadway New York productions. Recently, critics have been lamenting the lack of straight plays due to the dominance of musicals. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats was the longest running show and then his Phantom of the Opera took over.

The Latest Movies – Have You Got Your Tickets?

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

An article about the latest movies   by Bob Renner

How many of the latest movies are 50 percent CG? Yes, I’m talking about computer graphics. This is one of the wonderful aspects of film now-a-days. Not because it requires less of the actors or film crew, but because it allows us to believe. Everything looks so real that we forget we are watching a fantasy world. That’s truly a great aspect of film. You can get lost in it for a while. More recently I watched the movie, Silent Hill, and it did a fabulous job with special effects. I don’t know how they would have made the film without them. On a different note, the cool thing about going to the movie theater these days is the convenience.

This article is about glamour and commercial modeling. Facial expressions are a simple tool many photographers models overlook so hope this will give you something to think about if you are serious about becoming a professional female photographers model. Facial expressions are basically inherited.

They come from a long line of “mamas” and “papas” and “grandmas” and grandpas” so you’re stuck with what you received, right?

Not necessarily.

There are ways to alter some of your expressions although your facial expressions will remain your own up to a point.

World War II Posters

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

Even though I have a pretty sizeable collection already, I am always looking for additional World War II posters to buy. I like to rotate the ones that I have on display so that I get to enjoy a variety of different looks in my house. In order to do this, I like to purchase vintage World War II posters on a regular basis. Because I buy so frequently, I have a few websites that I go back to again and again. These are websites that I can trust to have a great selection of quality World War II posters in stock for the lowest prices around. In addition, these online retailers have shown time and again that they handle my World War II posters with care and ship them in solid containers that won’t get bent or crushed in the mail. That’s why they get my repeat business.

Information on Downloading Movies

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

During those endless hours I picked up a habit of sorts. I learned how to find, access and proceed with downloading movies. Using Acquisition and Azureus I educated myself on the different movie formats and even found out how to get foreign films along with English captions to play using a user-friendly utility called VLC. I was quite proud of my acquired knowledge and abilities. During those weeks I downloaded several gigs of entertainment. I spent hours scouring movie reviews and recommendations and I set up the computer to that it was downloading movies for hours while we slept.

I discovered several formerly unknown gems and even developed an interest in Korean and Japanese films, discovering several masterpieces that I’d never even heard of before. The funny thing is, with all those movies at my fingertips, I watched very few of them. (Although the ones I did get to watching turned out to be definitely worth my while!) In fact now, I have several movies waiting to be watched, but trapped within the confines of our computer system.

This happened because once I got well, I no longer needed the computer up in my bedroom, and so I no longer spent countless hours educating myself on the finer points of downloading movies. In fact, my education stopped at a crucial point: I never discovered how to take the files I had so carefully downloaded and convert and burn them in a format playable on our DVD player. So our system is bogged down with literal gigabytes of movies, with nobody interested in watching them on our puny 15 inch computer screen.

Harry Potter is to today’s youth what Star Wars is to my generation. This series of movies for kids has gained overwhelming popularity for this new generation. Some of us older kids love the movies as well. Harry Potter action figures have taken the toy industry by storm and I just can’t help but make the connection to the Stars Wars action figures of the 1970’s and 1980’s.

Jessica Simpson: She’s Got Everything

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

I could only shake my head whenever I see my 12-year-old niece staring mesmerized at the TV while watching MTV. What’s with the music the youth listen to these days? If it isn’t some kind of angry rap about how parents are too strict with their children, it’s something about free love or materialism. Whatever happened to Puppy Love and Sad Movies?  Read Complete Article:  Jessica Simpson

Marilyn Monroe Is Still The Pin-Up Picture Queen

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

Marilyn Monroe pictures and likenesses are still everywhere. She has become an icon, and the standard of glamour, sexiness, and beauty throughout the world. Her legacy is carried on in modern day pin-up images by Anna Nicole Smith, Britney Spears, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Scarlett Johansson, Paris Hilton, Jenna Jameson, Carmen Electra, Jessica Simpson, etc. (Did I forget your favorite?) All of these beauties, and many more, pose in the style of Marilyn Monroe pictures taken many generations ago. Some say that Betty Grable was the first pin-up Queen, but Marilyn Monroe’s pictures made the pin-up an art form.

OK, so the most obvious choice is the classic Marilyn Monroe picture where she is standing over the subway grate blowing cool air up her sexy dress on a hot city day – in the movie, The Seven Year Itch, with co-star Tom Ewell. But what if you want a more original or rare Marilyn Monroe picture, one that not everyone has plastered to the bathroom or bedroom wall?

Latest Movies

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

Seen any good movies lately? Okay, the fact is there haven’t been a lot to choose from. I mean come on; is anything not a re-make or a sequel these days? Now I know for a fact that loads of screenwriters across the world are constantly pumping out new scripts. Probably one hundred thousand a year or so. Therefore, the problem lies within the inner circle of Hollywood. The movie business has just gone down hill. However, at least you can pop open your favorite search engine and do a quick browse for the latest movies. Now, once you’ve opened your local movie guide, tell me which ones you actually want to pay eight bucks to see. This can be a difficult decision with the whole 50 dollar concessions fee and all. Well, regardless of Hollywood’s lack of nuance and clever material, movies will continue to turn a large profit around the globe. Have you bought your tickets yet? Read more latest movies

Do You Love Movies?

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

Do you love movies?

Oh come on, we all love that escapism we get when delving into a great film. It’s like we can actually leave our mundane lives for a couple hours and live vicariously through some hero or villain. Whether we know we’re doing it or not is irrelevant. But this is how movies work, folks.

When you sit down and become engrossed in a film, you typically relate to one or more characters in the film, and on some level, live through their actions until the film ends. You can feel yourself rooting for them. The cool thing about this escapism…

Yes, I know. You’ve probably heard all the reasons why you shouldn’t model for stock photographers.

We All Still Dream Of Jeannie

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

i dream of jeannie at www.ArticleMAINia.com

A good number of us grew up with the show, “I Dream of Jeannie.” If we were really young – during the original airings of the fluffy sitcom – we were likely not made privy to the details and nuances of what was at the time considered a unique take on subject matter and scenarios, nor were we aware of the dynamics, the issues and concerns, of such a potentially wild show as “I Dream of Jeannie.”

For instance, the classic “I Dream of Jeannie” costume was the subject of much discussion, attention, and even controversy – first, it could not be so revealing that it left open to viewers the sight of Barbara Eden’s navel – which it first was when costumers originally created it. Next, the more commonly appearing “I Dream of Jeannie” get-up was a pink harem outfit – but in a few episodes, Eden/Jeannie wears a green costume… which would become the costume of her evil twin in later episodes. Finally, because it represents or represented such hallmark iconography, the “I Dream of Jeannie” costume is under glass on display at the Smithsonian Institute.
