Cable TV Provider

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

have to look at and things that you have to consider today than ever before. It used to be that there was only, well, cable - that is the line that runs in to your house through a hole that they have to drill in your wall - you all know what I am talking about. You could get it in basic cable, expanded, or premium. The options varied, but it was always pretty straight forward, and besides, there was never more than one cable tv provider for any given area, so it was not really much of an issue. There was only one set of cable lines, so the city would let one company cover everyone, and that would be that. Now, I know that we all like to have our choices, but you have to admit that that kind of system makes everything pretty easy for us, and we all like to have things easy as well.

Thinking Of Upgrading To One Of Those Modern Entertainment Centers?

Monday, April 30th, 2007

When I was growing up in the 80’s modern entertainment centers were simple: we had a television. Eventually in the mid-80’s we got one of the first front-loading VCRs and then the customary pile of VHS tapes started piling up. That was all we needed, and they were pretty much the only options anyway.

Your Television Schedule

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Do you know the current television schedule by heart? If you do, you’re either a genius with a photographic memory, or you’ve got way too much spare time on your hands. Let’s hope it’s the first one. Now, what are your favorites and which are the ones you avoid? This is a tricky question in my house. My family all want to watch television at the same time. The good old prime time slots. From eight to eleven it’s a battle for the remote control in this house. With a man, a woman, a teenage girl and a seven year old girl, there’s not a lot of agreeing going on. This is when I simply take advantage of the Tivo option and record my shows. I watch them later after the rest have gone to bed. It’s just easier that way. I let the three girls battle it out amongst themselves. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?

High Quality Sharp Televisions

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

I’m a long time user of Sharp televisions, and I’ve always been very happy with them.  In fact the only three television brands that I can recall ever owning are Sharp, Sony, and Emerson, and the Sharp televisions I’ve had lasted the longest.  The Sony I owned eventually died on me, but I think that was mostly because I owned it through college, carted it around in my car a lot, and generally treated it like crap.  The little Emerson 13 inch I bought as my very first television actually still works okay, but Emerson as a company just isn’t nearly as prolific as Sharp, and doesn’t have nearly as many models available in the television market.

Flat Panel LCD Televisions

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

The TV has simply become part of our lifestyle.  We depend on these entertainment sources every day, whether it be for current events or sporting events.  The great thing is, they always continue to upgrade.  When it comes to our home entertainment, we certainly pull out all the stops.  A prime example of what I mean are the flat panel lcd televisions.  If you don’t already have one, then I’m sure it’s on the wish list.  I recall the first time I spotted one of these beauties.  I was browsing casually through an electronics superstore and everyone was crowded in a certain corner.  Like most people, I had to see what all the fuss was about.  When I peeked over the crowd, I was dumbfounded.  All hail the flat panel lcd television.  Home theaters have reached that next level.

How Large Is Your TV Screen

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Though there are many types of technology out there, my husband seems more concerned about the size of the TV screen than what a television can do for him. Don’t get me wrong, he wants all of the extras, but he is willing to give some things up to afford a larger screen. He had great eyesight, and the one we have seems fine to me, but that doesn’t stop him from constantly talking about getting a larger television for our living room. Quite honestly, anything much bigger is going to overwhelm our small room, and I don’t think he’s going to enjoy it as much as he thinks.

HDTV Projection System

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

My neice really lices our hdtv projection system, because it is just like being in a theatre. It has a little projector which mixes the color and shoots them out onto a wall. The other night, we had her and all of her little friends over for a night of Disney movies along with my son and his best friends rich and tom, who are twins. They’re really funny – they finish eachothers sentences and everything. Anyway, we turned on the hdtv projection television to an immediate chorus of “ooohhss” and “aaahhhss”. It was like actually being there, except that there wasn’t really any place as this was a cartoon. It’s hard to tell by looking at the image what the actual resolution is, but I’m sure it is quite good. It really looks every bit as good as a movie theatre, with the advantage of being at home.

The Goon Show - Not Quite Establishment

Friday, April 6th, 2007

The Goon Show was sometimes cited as very entertaining without having to resort to sexual innuendo like a lot of modern comedy… but it’s all in the mind of the listener:

Reputedly due to his dislike of rules imposed by the establishment, Milligan spent a lot of time working allusions to rude and/or sexual barrack room jokes into his scripts. These were instantly recognised by his peers and went completely over the heads of the BBC and other innocent listeners. …..read more at The Goon Show - Not Quite Establishment

Tv shows online

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Most people who have been using the Internet for a while have already heard of different file-sharing venues and peer-to-peer (P2P) downloading sites where you can get virtually any MP3 or audio file that you want. The fact that these music downloads are available is pretty common knowledge. What is perhaps less commonly known, however, is the fact that you can also find a significant number of TV shows online as well. Downloading television programs is basically the same as downloading other kinds of files. You first need to find a website that contains links to TV shows online, and then you have to make sure that you have some kind of file-sharing client that will allow you to access the files (often called “torrents” after the name of one of the most popular clients out there).

Do you have a favorite celebrity?

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Do you have a favorite celebrity?  Alec Baldwin is a famous America actor, producer, and director.  He is the oldest and most famous of the ‘Baldwin brothers’, his younger brothers Daniel, Stephen, and William are all well known actors as well.  Okay, so the most obvious choice is the classic Marilyn Monroe picture where she is standing over the subway grate blowing cool air up her sexy dress on a hot city day—in the movie, The Seven Year Itch.  My friend has a Britney Spears poster in his bedroom.  In this poster, she is wearing a cap, doing a semi-wink at her viewer, has a crop top on to expose or reveal her naval piercing, and is quite voluptuous for the rails that usually top the fashion and celebrity charts.

V-Chip

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

The V-Chip, short for Violence Chip, is a device that can be used to filter what television programs are accessible in your home. This device was developed in Canada, but it is used mainly in the United States by parents who want to be able to control what their children are viewing on TV. With more and more children having TV’s in their rooms as well as being home alone while both parents work, there are concerns over what a child has access to. Since you don’t want to remove the entire cable set up from your home, the V-Chip is a great alternative.

All television sets that have been manufactured since 1998 have the V-Chip ability programmed into them as established by the Federal Trade Commission (FCC). The goal is to promote safety for our children by educating parents about their options.

Dr Dr Quinn Medicine Woman the TV drama that will live in the hearts of people

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

Westerns used to be staple fare on TV in past decades, before they fell out of favor but a western series with a difference revived the genre when Dr Quinn Medicine Woman ran from 1993-1998. The show was immensely popular around the world, winning numerous Emmy Awards. It is a family show with a mixture of drama, comic moments and good characters. Although seen as family entertainment, the series was not afraid to tackle social issues in its stories. These were often on the theme of race relations and feminism. More romance stories from contemporary society.

Entertainment Jobs

Tuesday, February 6th, 2007

I felt bad for a buddy of mine who pursued an entertainment job diligently, but came up with nothing. He swears it’s his image. He looks nothing like the typical handsome leading man. To be completely frank, this will hurt anyone searching for an entertainment job. Well, if it’s in acting anyway. Hollywood is always searching for the next talented pretty face. If you’re not up-to-par in the image category, you’ve got a major strike against you.

Home Theater System - Fun And Comfort At Home

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Of course, not everyone plans to sell their homes but it’s nice to know that you investment in a home theater system will help increase the value of your house. You really can benefit from the purchase in other ways, too. You will spend less money on going out when you can entertain right in your own home. We love that we can stay at home and have the best seating during sports events by watching them through our home theater system. My husband may have gone overboard by getting a lot of features that we may never use but his reasoning for doing so is quite rational.

Lookalikes

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

In today’s day and age there are tons of people who want to look like celebrities. Not only do these people decide to dress and act like their favorite celebrity, but of course they want to look the same way as well. These lookalikes are not uncommon, and you have probably seen them on television at least once or twice. In fact, there have been several television programs dedicated to celebrity lookalikes.  It is quite interesting to see how so many people can make themselves look like another person.

If you want to be a celebrity lookalike you are going to have to put in a lot of work and in many cases a lot of money as well. The first step that you will have to take is learning everything about the celebrity who you are interested in. Take notes on how they dress, how they act, and of course what they look like. When considering physical features you should look at every last detail from facial features down to the feet. After all, the more detail that you can copy the more you will look like your favorite celebrity.

There are two types of lookalikes in the world today. There are the people who naturally look like celebrities and only do a bit of work to cap things off, and then there are those people who work on their body in order to achieve the results they are after. This means that they will eat less if they have to, and even get plastic surgery if it is a must. While there is nothing wrong with this, make sure that you know what you are doing before you get in too deep. In other words, do you want to be a celebrity lookalike for the rest of your life?

Believe it or not there are lookalikes agencies that are becoming quite popular.  These agencies specialize in finding celebrity lookalikes, and then booking them on jobs that suits their needs. This may not seem like a very big industry, but it is actually picking up a lot of steam. This all goes back to the sheer volume of people who are obsessed with celebrities and what they are doing on a daily basis.

If you think that you look like a certain celebrity it may be in your best interest to get in touch with a lookalike agency. They will be able to give you an honest assessment, and if good enough you may be able to begin booking jobs.  Many people work very hard to tweak their look so that they can become one of the featured lookalikes at an agency.

With so many people interested in the way that celebrities look, it is easy to see why so many lookalikes are popping up all over the world.  As more and more lookalike agencies are established, this industry is only going to get stronger. In turn this will lead to a lot of newcomers trying their hand as a celebrity lookalike.

If you’d like to find out more about lookalikes, why not visit http://www.tribute-entertainment.co.uk a site that specializes in celebrity lookalikes and impersonators

You Choose Direct TV, DISH Or Cable Service

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

According to the Kaptain Satellite website (http://www.kaptainsatellite.com), during 2005 DirecTV gained more than a million new subscribers, as did the Dish Network. Many of them moved to a direct TV service from a cable provider. So what comparisons can be made between these three different providers? With many features, both DirecTV and the Dish Network are on a level par. They both offer free equipment and installation by professional satellite TV installers. They have a much cheaper program rate than cable, at least 50% cheaper at the basic level of subscription.

Why Direct TV

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

Why Direct TV? Because it is beamed directly to the little receiver on top of your house. Or hanging off the balcony. Or even inside, pointing through a skylight or window. Does Direct TV fade out in bad weather? Well, yeah. Though they’d like us to think it doesn’t. Just about as much as cable, which also gets most of its feeds from a satellite. But believe me, if it gets that bad, the Direct TV reception will be the last thing on your mind.

But is there a way to monitor what’s on live satellite TV or cable? Use Parental Controls.

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

Recent years have seen an explosion in the popularity of the small sized satellite dishes for picking up television stations. The new Directv dishes are easier to install and use than the old large dishes. And in many cases they are installed free when you sign a contract to pay the monthly fee for a year or two. While there are likely to be a number of local merchants dealing in DISH TV and Directv (many deal in both at the same time), there are many more online.

Local Channels On DIRECTV

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

A big question about satellite TV service involves getting the “free” local channels. Either the objection is that they are charging for them or you can’t get them at all. And DIRECTV installers agree that sometimes can’t receive all the channels you’re paying for. If your only location for the dish is blocked by your neighbor’s tree or home, you won’t get some channels. Dishes work by line-of-sight with satellites far above the earth’s atmosphere.

How Does Direct TV Work

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

Though small compared to the first satellite receivers, the DirecTV dishes provide an amazing variety of entertainment. Your direct TV network satellite dish receives transmitted signals from 6 high-power satellites. These satellites are known as, DBS-1, DBS-2, DIRECTV 1-R, D4-S, DIRECTV 5, and finally DirecTV 6. The satellite TV technology used by Direct TV is so sophisticated that one of these satellites is capable of transmitting specific channels to pre-designated areas of the U.S. This allows for local channels, as well as national and international ones, to be picked up and beamed out throughout the United States.

High definition TV (HDTV) provides a higher quality picture on your home television set than standard services. Regular TV, which travels over the airwaves, is also known as analog TV.
