Which Is The Best Guitar To Learn On?

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007
In all probability, if you have asked someone if you could use their guitar for a while, it would be a steel string acoustic or an old classical acoustic guitar.
Acoustic guitars only require a pick while electric guitars require things like leads, amps, speakers and power. Acoustic guitars are very easy to learn on.
Another great thing about acoustic guitars is that you don’t have a volume control. In the beginning stages of learning to play, it is probably better to play on a guitar that isn’t going bother your neighbors, you only want it loud enough so your ears alone can hear both your good performances and of course, your errors.
There are many different reasons why people play guitar. What it is that you want to get out of the guitar? Listen to different styles and genres of music to discover what your tastes in guitar and music are. Ask musicians at music shops about what kind of guitars different bands use, or ask them what kind of amps/effects those artists use to get that sound.

Learn The Basics Behind Guitar Tuning

Monday, March 12th, 2007

The process of guitar tuning is relatively simple. Novice guitar players may benefit from a few tools that make the process even easier, and more accurate. There are a variety of guitar tuners available. Some play a note in perfect pitch, allowing you to hear how your notes should sound. These are often very basic, and quite inexpensive. Some more sophisticated models can also detect a note as you play it, and indicate how far off-key (and in which direction) the string is. The internet can also help improve one’s skill with the guitar. There are many websites available that give tips from a beginner’s stage to the more advanced lessons.

Instructional videos are also available. Some were produced by rock stars and each of these individuals have or use a different technique.

The best technique that can be used to check your progress is by playing the guitar at the same time as the same song is playing in the background. That way, if you are playing “off key”, adjustments can be made until it is perfected.

Different Types of Guitar String

A guitar string can be made out of nylon or wound steel. The steel variety can either be regular wound or flat wound. They also come in different thicknesses (gauges) dependent upon the preference or playing style of the guitar player. Typically, steel strings are used for electric guitars.
