buying guitars online

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

I have bought many guitars online over the years. I studied Classical Guitar At The Crane School of Music, and played in various bands for the last 15 years or so. To Buy Guitar Online is to truly live on the edge. Really I would prefer to go to the store and play the very guitar I am buying, but sometimes, I have to order. For example, in 2001 I wanted this Parker Fly Classic (now called the mojo) with a certain natural finish I could not find in New York. I went online and eventually found the exact one I wanted in a small store in Tennessee (I forget the website lol) In general though, I would go to a local music store to play the guitar you are buying because the more expensive ones like Gibson, are all basically hand-made and can have different feels,flaws and bonuses, ESPECIALLY acoustic guitars. I really want the Martin D-35, but I would definitely go to a store and play 3 or 4 of them before choosing one, not just picking it out of a catalogue.

I Love Ashley Tisdale

Monday, September 29th, 2008

I love everything Ashley Tisdale does from the Suite Life of Zack and Cody to High School Musical. I think she’s the best one of the whole High School Musical cast! And I was just reading an Ashley Tisdale biography that said that she’s going to be in a new movie. I’m so excited!! I hope she stays famous for a really long time, because I never get tired of her. I’m going to go out and buy her CD right now.

How to promote a concert

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Are you racking your brains trying to figure out just how to promote a concert?

It’s not that difficult once you apply yourself to the task and really, everything is just common sense.

Firstly, time and timing is very important.

Treble check the date of the concert so that there’s no confusion there. (Sounds stupid, I know, but it has happened) Then make sure that any publicity is printed and ready to be displayed in plenty of time. This allows for hold-ups at printers, weekends, bank holidays etc.

You want a good return on ticket sales so don’t leave publicising the event till the last minute. Things like” book now to avoid disappointment” and “when they’re gone they’re gone” are good stock phrases to use.

The design of any posters, flyers or leaflets that you create is vitally important. They have to meet the A.I.D.A criteria. Not sure what that is?

A=attention
I=interest
D=desire
A=action

Basically, the design needs to be good enough/bright enough/unusual enough to attract everyone’s attention. But especially the attention of your target audience whoever they may be.

Country Western Music Anyone?

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Nice info about country western music!

In the family I grew up in my father liked to have things quiet. He worked very hard at his job and running a farm so when he sat down for the evening he did not like a great deal of noise or activity going on around him. We could have the television on low or he would put on albums of classical music. It was the only music he would listen to. If we had the radio on and country western music of…

I was Captivated with My First Broadway Musical

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

She brought me to my first Broadway musical when I was in middle school. She had purchased two tickets to the Phantom of the Opera Broadway musical in New York City. She also purchased the soundtrack of the Phantom three days before our trip to the city, so that I could know a bit about it ahead of time. I realized later that listening to the soundtrack was nothing like actually being there.

No Bass Players Need Apply

Friday, December 15th, 2006

My husband used to be in a band when I was in college. A group of people approached him one day, and told him that they wanted to help him and his band. It was a harmless offer but, something told me that they will create a load of problems. I started feeling this way when I observed that they had cut all of the bass players out of the pictures of bands they had hanging on their wall.
