Internet Streaming Classical Music

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Of course, even if you are a more knowledgeable classical fan, you can still find what you need online. There are plenty of classical music downloads out there that a lot of my friends take advantage of. This is an especially good way to find the works of new composers. A lot of art music composers are absolutely desperate to find fans nowadays. They are perfectly willing to make their performances available for free in hopes that you will become familiar with their works and want to see them live. They put their classical music online and spread the word as far as they can. The only difficulty is finding out about these artists.

That is where Internet streaming radio comes in. A lot of online Internet Djs make it their business to be extremely knowledgeable about current trends in music and entertainment. They will point you to some of the hottest musicians in whatever genre interests you. A lot of people don’t expect classical music online to be so fertile, but it really is. It seems that nowadays whenever a genre loses popularity in the outside world, it finds refuge on the Internet. Classical music online is no exception. Whether you are into the works of the Romantic period, the high classical composers, or more modern art music, you can find it on the Internet.

The Basics of Satellite Radio

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Broadcasting digital radio via satellite is not something new and concepts of doings this have been with us for a few years. From the early days of satellite radio, companies like Dish Network have offered digital audio channels as part of their programs. The breakthrough in popularity of satellite radio, however, happened just recently, when the technology became more permissive. Satellite radio was very rare on moving locations, such as boats or cars, mostly because there was the need for some expensive equipment – a tracking dish. This was a strong deterrent which kept satellite radio quite unknown by the general public. Today, however, one can receive digital audio satellite broadcasts by using a small, GPS-like antenna. This greatly increased the feasibility of the satellite radio systems and more and more vehicle owners began considering satellite radios as a good source of music and news.

Which Cable Service Fits Your Needs?

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

With the choice of so many programming providers out there it can be difficult deciding on which is right for you and your family. Of course there are some basic factors that can alleviate this decision based on the type of viewing that is desired in your home.

In large cities such as Houston, Texas there are three major providers. These are Dish Network, Direct TV, and of course, Comcast. To be fair to all three there are distinct advantages to each.

For Comcast they tend to have less chance of signal loss during a major storm. However, when signal is lost due to a down or cut line, repair is longer to achieve. In addition pricing is somewhat higher than Direct or Dish. Quality of picture is also an issue, especially if the house is further on down the line as signal strength weakens. And of course, in February of 2009 all cable customers will need a box for each tv wanting service.

Direct TV like Dish has %100 digital programming unlike cable. Where Direct is possibly a better choice over the other two is in the area of NFL fans. Direct TV is the only provider to have the Sunday NFL Ticket where fans can watch all the games on Sunday. This service is usually an additional $300 or more in addition to the regular programming package fees. Also, unlike Dish, a receiver is needed for each tv.

Where Dish Network distinguishes themselves from Comcast and Direct TV is in their overall product. Dish has %100 digital programming, the NFL Network is in one of their lowest priced packages, each receiver is capable of operating two televisions instead of one, their regular pricing is lower than the rest, and signal loss is only on average two to five minutes in the rare occurrence signal is lost. In addition to the regular cd music available, Sirius Satellite music comes included with their mid to high level packaging at no extra cost. And, when it comes to High Definition programming (HDTV) Dish is the leader.

Friday, December 21st, 2007

Once you have looked into these problems and know the road safety rules regarding a portable satellite TV you will be able to look at the different satellite dishes. These dishes come in many shapes and sizes. You will need to look for one that you can also afford. As this is still a relatively new invention, the price for a portable satellite TV is fairly steep.

However if you can afford to buy such a portable satellite TV there are many benefits to be experienced. The main advantage is that of the hours of entertainment your family will get for long distance journeys. The number of different programs that you will be able to find.

Internet Radio Stations

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

Internet radio stations are, in my opinion, one of the most exciting developments in high tech media in years. Along with the availability of inexpensive sound recording software and the fact that almost everyone now has access to a computer, internet radio stations mean that almost anyone can make webcasts or podcasts of their own. Of course, it is not just private individuals who are making use of internet radio stations. In reality, the vast majority of internet radio stations are owned by big communications firms as internet versions of their own radio stations. But that is just the beauty of the internet - it levels the playing field. Whether you want to listen to top 40 from Las Angeles, or some kid spinning punk rock in Birmingham, Alabama, chances are that you can find it through an internet radio station.

Choosing an Awesome Car Audio System

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

Being able to drive on a long stretch of empty road is one of the best things that I like about my car. I simply put the top down and allow the wind to rustle through my hair as the miles fly past and the music blare. The bulk of this experience is dependent on nature and the ample availability of time, money and fuel.

However, the last aspect of my driving experience is entirely dependent on the presence of a good car audio system. By meditating or closing my mind to everything else, I can retain my sanity in rush hour traffic. Surviving through rush hour traffic is also a lot easier with the help of great music coming from a good car sound system.

Detective Story Audio Books.

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

Welcome, to our ready-made, high quality, downloadable audio book store.

For this month, we shall concentrate our attention on the famous Sherlock Holmes.

“For generations, the legend has been passed down - a satanic tale of a gigantic hell-hound, a devil incarnate who stalks the wastes of Dartmoor wreaking a bloody and terrible vengeance on the Baskerville family.

What turns out to be one of the most interesting cases of the great detective’s career begins when a country doctor visits Holmes and Watson in London. He brings with him the legend of the hound and news of the sudden death of Sir Charles Baskerville. Sir Charles’ heir, Henry, is arriving from America and the doctor is afraid for the young man’s life. Holmes despatches Dr Watson to accompany them back to the dark and sombre estate in the Devon moor.

With peril at every turn and a murderous escaped convict at large, the mystery deepens. Is the ancient legend true, or is the hideous creature merely a part of a sinister conspiracy whose origins are all too diabolically human?”

That, of course, was from ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Click on the title, or ‘more’ and it will take you to my main site, where you may indulge your self with additional reading or, indeed, even actually listen to a generous extract from the stories.  This site consists of over over 5,000 audio titles and over 7,200 webpages.  All the data (including photos of every audiobook, and streaming audio samples) has already been entered and is continually updated.  You have powerful search features and everything you need to locate the audio book you seek.

Clicking ’site map’, on the left will offer a further list, containing not only Sherlock Holmes, but other luminaries such as Agatha Christie, Raymond Chandler, Edna Buchanan, J.D. Robb, etc.

Of course these are just a few, in this genre, that you may listen to on my actual main audio book web site.

Such as:

  • Detective
  • Horror & Suspense
  • Thrillers
  • True Crime
  • Action & Adventure
  • Classics

And much more

Cheers,

Ray Cunningham.
