Affordabe Acoustic Research Wireless Speakers

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

The path began in my youth, (long time ago,) back in the 70s.  Back in those days there were no Acoustic Research wireless speakers, or any of the modern marvels you’ll see today.  If someone had walked into my sound emporium, they’d have found some second hand speakers I saved from the trash.  I’m not complaining, while they were not great, they served my purposes at the time and I was a happy guy, can’t say the same for the neighbor who kept pounding on the walls… “What was his problem?”  Well it could be he didn’t like the cone that buzzed, the very low treble fidelity and the way they pounded your eardrums.  Hey, they served me well during my college years.

What is Satellite Radio?

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

Satellite radio is often considered one of the biggest improvements in broadcasting since the introduction of the FM band. Satellite radio is also called subscription radio or pay-radio because it is only available trough subscription to one of the satellite radio providing companies. Satellite radio follows a concept similar to cable television by providing a very wide range of programs which are not available in the traditional FM or AM format for a fee.

Are Science Fiction Books Spaced Out?

Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

Dave loves Fiction and Non-fiction at the Writing - Golden Bookstore Guide

I guess what I liked so much about these science fiction books was their epic scope. There are books of what is called speculative fiction, a type of science fiction that attempts to look into the future of society, that I do like a lot, but the space opera is always better.

I just hope they are not all Spaced Out…

Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

Dave loves Fiction and Non-fiction at the Writing - Golden Bookstore Guide

I used to collect those [blank] for beginners books, and still enjoy the condensed lessons on Freud, Sartre, and others, for instance.

But I also began a profound appreciation of books for dummies, starting with the books for dummies series edition of Hinduism for Dummies.

Does this mean they are any good?

Book Agents - Are They A Myth?

Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

Dave loves Fiction and Non-fiction at the Writing - Golden Bookstore Guide

The first step in finding an agent to represent your work is to research their area of specialty.

Not all agents focus on works of fiction some are only interested in technical books, while others enjoy pursuing works of poetry.

Once you’ve narrowed the field down, you now have to find an agent who has your best interest at heart.

Fiction Agents - Fact or Fiction?

Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

Dave loves Fiction and Non-fiction at the Writing - Golden Bookstore Guide

The majority of well-known and reputable fiction agents will not review unsolicited submissions by a previously unpublished novelist.

Interestingly, most publishers will not review an unsolicited submission from a writer without an agent?

This means that writers hoping to sell their first book must look for fiction agents who will consider material from a first timer. But is all this a myth?

How to get a job in show business

Monday, June 19th, 2006

When we’re young and idealistic, we consider only the cream (or the cherries) in the world of entertainment industry jobs—and, if we feel entertainment is our calling, aim for acting, directing, or maybe writing.

But obviously, there are thousands of other equally important (if not imperative) positions…from the grips to the CGI assistants to the editors, of both the writing and the film. And this is just the movie industry.

Why XM Satellite Radio?

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

Are you familiar with XM satellite radio? You should be! It may be a well kept secret at this point in time, but not for long!

Between visiting friends and family, going on rock climbing trips, and trying to see the world, I end up going on a lot of road trips. I’ve crisscrossed the country quite a few times, all without any in-car DVD player or sedatives for the passengers.
Music has always been important, and my friends and I usually bring all of our CDs along with us in giant folders and binders. Every time a new driver takes over they choose half a dozen different discs and put them somewhere easily accessible so the rest of us can sleep for another few hours. The time usually passes pretty quickly, though eventually the music usually wears thin.

Downloading Music Software

Wednesday, March 8th, 2006

Napster was pretty much the only downloading music software, and just logging on to it was like stepping in to a vast trove of treasure.

Some people use downloading music software to get the mainstream top 40 junk that they would otherwise buy in stores, but not me.

I use software to download music that I would have a hard time finding otherwise – that is if I could find it at all.

Article about Music Licensing

Every time a restaurant, movie theatre, radio station, super market, or mall plays a song that they themselves didn?t produce, there was a music licensing agreement that allowed them to do so legally.
