Home Theater Room Design

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

As many of you know watching a great movie on a small TV can be a little disappointing. This is because the TV will not give us the entire thrilling view that having a large television can. To compensate for this we either go to the movies and watch what we like or we invest in many electrical items that will mimic this movie theater feeling. Now having gotten this stuff we need to transform one section of our home into a home theater room design.

To make sure that you make the most out of the living space that you have and you won’t cause any injuries to yourself, you should think about where you want everything to go in this room. Therefore the best way to get a good home theater room design is to have a written plan of how your new entertainment room will look.

Since there are so many factors to take into account when you are planning your home theater room design you should carefully measure the room that you will be using as the home theater so that you know that all of your electrical items and home theaters necessities will fit in here.

Once you have gotten the measurements noted you can start by planning where the various components will be placed. In the section where you movie screen will be, remove any pictures from that section.

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

What would you consider to be your dream job? I’m sure many people would say to not have a job at all, but rather a loaded bank account allowing them to do as they please. Fair enough! I can definitely see the appeal of that lifestyle. Unfortunately for most of us that’s not reality. As for me, my ideal position would be a successful career in film. Just to be clear, I’m not talking acting. I prefer something behind the scenes. I hope to be a screenwriter some day. Okay, I know what you’re thinking. The writers have no pull! This would be a fair assumption. In reality it’s the movie director and producers that call the shots. So which one of these is your dream job? I know you’ve thought about it. We all do!

In Bruges

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

“In Bruges” is written and directed by Martin McDonagh, previously acclaimed for his Broadway play “The Lieutenant of Inishmore” (if you ever have a chance to see the play, you must). “The Lieutenant of Inishmore” (the play is originally from London) was one of the most hilarious and surprising plays on Broadway for last two years. In his filmmaking debut “In Bruges” Martin McDonagh maintain his affection for “the comedy of words and wounds” and once again proves his talent for words and jokes. Great dialogues, unexpected turns, unique characters and wild situations - everything is as a good black comedy should be. And the ending that you should see for yourself!

Central Iowa tourism discussed by new author

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

A well known author is just finishing up the final pages of a book on central Iowa tourism that he has been working on for two years now. He did all the research on the book himself by finding every attraction and restaurant in the central Iowa area and visiting them himself or with his family. He is an avid camper so he would find a local campground and not only would he write about that he would use that campground as a central point to visit all the attractions in the area. He used the information supplied by the campground workers to find the hidden treasures of that particular area. He ate no meals at the campsite as he was also reviewing the restaurants in the area. One thing that surprised him was the number of museums that were scattered around the state. It felt like there was some kind of a museum in every other small town and the things they were dedicated to were quite varied. Some of them were dedicated to such things as salt and pepper shakers or old telephones. Most were just dedicated to the past of the community but those were quite interesting as well.

Do Movie Reviews Sway Your Choices As To What Movies You Watch?

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007
There are a plethora of movie reviews on the web at any time. If you want to discover varying opinions on a variety of films then check out rottentomatoes.com, it’s a really cool site. While some critics may bash a film into the ground, others will give it a thumbs-up. As I said, a great deal depends on the critic writing the movie review. When it comes down to it, you can see how many movie critics are writing damning reviews on a new movie release and how many are praising it. The way it is supposed to work is, if the movie receives many more bad reviews than good reviews, than chances are it’s going to be a flop. But, if you really want to know for sure, go and see it for yourself and give it your own movie review.

Is It Really A New Released Movie Or A Movie Remake?

Saturday, July 21st, 2007
Deja Vu - Didn’t That Killer Die In The Last New Movie Release
For some reason they remake horror films more than any other genre. And I understand that with today’s superior special effects the temptation is just too strong not to want to remake everyone’s favorite scary movies. But, guess what Hollywood? The reason most people go to see a new released horror or hack and slash movie is the suspense, the unknown. Guess what? When you remake a horror or hack and slash movie, the suspense is gone, the unknown is known. Use your collective imaginations and make a completely original new released movie so we can start using our imaginations once again. I have actually heard remakes called “re-imaginations” and that’s a sad thing. So please stop taking the “thrill” out of the thriller.

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

So there I was, standing out in the rain looking for last minute theatre tickets to see a Broadway show. This wasn’t how I had pictured spending my vacation. When I took a train into New York from Jersey City, my friend had promised me we would have the time of our lives. Apparently, he was a big shot now. He knew how to get cheap theatre tickets to all of the Broadway shows.  He had been working as a production assistant at one of the big Broadway theatre companies, and he presented himself as better connected than he probably was.

Indiana Jones DVD

Saturday, June 30th, 2007
Will There Be A Forth Indiana Jones DVD
Indiana Jones is unquestionably the greatest action hero in films and on dvd. Indiana Jones, played by actor Harrison Ford, was first introduced in the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark. Indiana Jones is modeled after the square-jawed heroes of the pulp magazines and matinée serials such as Doc Savage. Director Steven Spielberg grew up watching the cliffhanging matinee adventures at his local movie house and wanted to re-create them in his trilogy of films featuring an archeology professor. The three movies, all available as an Indiana Jones dvd were big hits with audiences. Harrison Ford, in the lead role in the films, never lost his fedora hat and bullwhipped his way into action around the world, not content to stay in the museum.  The movies were co-produced by George Lucas, a friend of Spielberg and the man behind Star Wars. The franchise is set to return in 2008 with a fourth movie, starring Ford again.
Snakes! Why Did It Have To Be Snakes!
It all began in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Ford is in a race with Nazis to find the Ark of the Covenant. It also featured Paul Freeman and Alfred Molina. This was followed three years later with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, when Ford searches for a mystical stone. This Indiana Jones dvd and film features Kate Capshaw and Amrish Puri.

Advice for Scoring Front Row Tickets

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

There is always a part of us that hopes that we can score front row tickets every time we plan to attend an event. Of course, not everyone wants to sit up front, but the most of us think it’s the best place to be. Although I do know people who like to sit back and be further from the action on stage, I have to agree that the front seats are best place to be during an event. Nevertheless, not everyone can sit in the front seats. You may not get what you are hoping for, even if the seats you want are further back when the public ticket sales begin for any event.

Tom Cruise, Paramount And Hollywood Power’s Shift, And Now Hedge Funds

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

Until the 1950’s, Hollywood was controlled by seven major motion picture studios. More importantly it was controlled by moguls, all of whom were men they of eastern European descent, who ruled the studio in the same way that the kings of their previous countries ruled the peasants. Creative control belonged to the mogul, while the money was always controlled by the New York bankers, the so-called “Suits”.
